Cancun is a city found in southeastern Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula. The city is located on the Caribbean Sea and is a favorite tourist destination for people from all over the world. The translation of Cancun is suggested to be "nest of snakes," although locals prefer the translation of "place of the Gold snake." Overall there are 31 states in Mexico. Quintana Roo is a mid-sized state with a capital city based in Chetumal.

The downtown area of Cancun is known as "El Centro," and is actually a very beautiful design. The supermanzana superblocks form giant trapezoids that have large central open areas framed by u-shaped residential streets. The downtown area is quite walker- and cyclist-friendly. El medio is the Spanish word for middle. Ciudad is Spanish for city and Mercado is the Spanish word for market.

My favorite companions when jogging the mosquito-friendly trail are the chattering spider monkeys.
