1. Mt. Aconcagua

Answer: Andes

Mount Aconcagua is the highest mountain in the Andes, the highest in all of South America and in the Western World. It lies in the Argentine province of Mendoza in western Argentina near the Chilean border. Its highest elevation is 22,387 ft. (6,961 m) above sea level.

The person credited for its first ascent is British adventurer Edward FitzGerald in 1897 but FitzGerald never actually made it to the top. Swiss mountaineer Matthias Zurbriggen is the first known person to have made it to the top which he accomplished on the expedition led by FitzGerald who failed the climb.
2. Gerlach

Answer: Carpathian

Gerlach, known locally as Gerlachovsky stit, is the highest point in the Carpathian Mountains. It can be found in Slovakia and rises 8,709 ft. (2,654 m). Because of the historically volatile political situation in Eastern Europe, Gerlach has been the tallest mountain in several different countries over the years including Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Slovakia.

It was first climbed in 1834 by a local man named Johann Still.
3. Mont Blanc

Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in both the Alpine Range and in all of Western Europe. At 15,774 ft. (4,808 m) tall, it is sometimes said to be the tallest mountain in Europe as Mount Elbrus in Russia is sometimes considered part of Asia. Mont Blanc is located on the border of Italy and France.

It was first climbed in 1786 by Frenchmen Jacque Balmat and Michel-Gabriel Paccard. Mount Blanc is known for its high rate of fatalities both from climbers, avalanche victims and plane crashes.
4. Toubkal

Toubkal is the highest mountain in the Atlas Range in Northern Africa. It is the highest peak in Morocco and in the Arabic -speaking world. It rises 13,671 ft. (4,167 m) above sea level. It is located nearby the city of Marrakesh which is generally made a headquarters for those wishing to climb the mountain. Toubkal was first climbed in 1923 by a team led by French nobleman Marquis de Segonzac.
5. Mount Mitchell

Answer: Appalachian

Mount Mitchell is located in the U.S. state of North Carolina and is the tallest mountain in the Appalachians as well as east of the Mississippi River. The 6,684 ft. (2,037 m) mountain was first climbed by French botanist Andre Michaux in 1789 when the mountain was called Black Dome. It was renamed for Elisha Mitchell who calculated its height.
6. Mount Narodnaya

Answer: Ural

Mount Narodnaya, which translates to People's Mountain, is the tallest peak in the Ural Mountains which divide Europe and Asia politically. It reaches an elevation of 6,214 ft. (1,894 m). It was first climbed by geologist A.N. Aleshkov, who also named the mountain, in 1927. Mount Narodnaya is considered one of the easier mountains of this height to climb because its north face has a gentle slope and is often (but not always) free of snow.
7. Corno Grande

Corno Grande, which translates to Great Horn in Italian, is the highest peak in the Apennine Mountains that run down Italy's spine. It is located in the Abruzzo region and reaches 9,554 ft. (2,912 m) high. It was first known to be climbed in 1573 by Italians Francesco de Marchi and Francesco di Domenico.
8. Mount Elbrus

Answer: Caucasus

Mount Elbrus is a dormant volcano in Southern Russia that is the highest peak in the Caucasus Mountains, Russia and Europe. It stands 18,510 ft. (5,642 m) high. The lower summit was first climbed in 1829 by Russian Khillar Khachirov and the taller summit was first reached in 1874 in an expedition led by Florence Crauford Grove.
9. Tirich Mir

Answer: Hindu Kush

Tirich Mir is the tallest mountain in the Hindu Kush range and the tallest mountain outside of the Himalayas. It is located in Pakistan in the KP Province. It rises 25,289 ft. (7,708 m) high. The name Tirich Mir translates to King of the Darkness because it casts a long shadow over the small villages at its base.

It was first climbed by Norwegian explorer Arne Naess and his team in 1950.
10. Botev Peak

Answer: Balkan

Botev Peak is the highest mountain in the Balkan range and is located near the exact center of Bulgaria. The mountain is home to radio and television centers that broadcast through most of the country. Botev Peak, which is 7,795 ft. (2,376 m) high is named after Bulgarian revolutionary hero Hristo Botev.
