The waters of the Black Warrior come from deep in the mountains of Alabama, and even Tennessee (via the Tombigbee Waterway). It gathers water from the Bankhead Forest, and the Sipsey wilderness. It flows by Tuscaloosa, and joins with the Tombigbee River, which provides a vital link that cuts down shipping time between the Tennessee River and the Gulf of Mexico.
