The Skowhegan State Fair has been held in Maine since 1819. As a means for local farmers to gain knowledge of agricultural advances and livestock breeding, the fair is an important event. Today the fair attracts thousands of exhibitors and visitors from around the country.

Answer: Montana

General George Custer and the Seventh Cavalry were defeated on June 25 and 26,1876, by native Americans from the Cheyenne, Arapaho and Lakota Sioux nations. The Little Big Horn Battlefield Monument, located near Crow Agency, Montana, is dedicated to the men who died there in the battle. The monument was built in 1881 on Last Stand Hill.
3. Which U.S. state has the wettest site?

Answer: Hawaii

Hawaii is home to Mt. Waialeale. This mountain receives about 460 inches of rain per year. The mountain is 5,148 feet high and is often surrounded by rain clouds. In 1982, a record breaking 666 inches of rain fell on the mountain. Mt. Waialeale is found on the island of Kauai.
4. Which U.S. state has the oldest carousel that is still in operation?

Answer: Rhode Island

The oldest carousel in the United States is located at Watch Hill in Westerly, Rhode Island. Believed to have been built around 1876, it once belonged to a traveling carnival. Unable to continue on its route, the carnival left the ride at the Rhode Island seaside town.

The ride featured horses attached not to poles but to chains from the ceiling. Horses "flew" through the air as the ride went around, so the name "Flying Horse Carousel" was born.
5. Which U.S. state holds the largest balloon festival?

Answer: New Mexico

Since 1972 the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival has been a yearly event. It attracts balloonists from all over the globe. Upwards of 900 hot-air and gas-filled balloons are viewed by more than a million spectators. They fly over the 350 acre Balloon Festival Park.

Answer: Delaware

Believe it or not there is such an event. Sussex County in Delaware holds a yearly "Punkin Chuckin" contest. The idea of the contest is for a team to construct a machine that will toss a pumpkin a great distance. The record to date is 4,434 feet.
7. Which U.S. state is home to the world's largest portrait bust?

Answer: South Dakota

Mount Rushmore in the Black Hill of South Dakota attracts more than two million visitors a year. The monument is a portrait bust of presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. It is 500-feet high.
8. Which U.S. state has the world's largest motorcycle museum?

Answer: Alabama

The Barber Vintage Motor sports Museum in Birmingham, Alabama has over 900 motorcycles. The cycles are placed on display on a rotating basis, as only 500 are displayed at a time. The motorcycles come from all over the world and represent every decade from the twentieth century.

Answer: New Jersey

At four miles long the Atlantic City boardwalk is the longest in the United States. When it is combined with the neighboring Ventnor boardwalk, it becomes almost six miles in length. The boardwalk was built to keep sand out of tourists' shoes and ultimately from being tracked into hotel lobbies.
10. Which U.S. state is home to the biggest Ferris wheel?

Answer: Texas

The Texas Star at the State Fair in Texas is 212 feet high. It was opened at the 1986 fair.
