Mt Everest is in the Himalayan mountain range and was first conquered in 1953. The first to reach the top was Sherpa Tenzing Norgay. It is 8,848 metres high.

Reykjavik in Iceland is the world's northernmost capital city of an independent state. Nuuk in Greenland is further north but Greenland is part of Danish territory and not an independent state.
9. In which South American country are the Angel Falls, the highest water falls in the world?

Answer: Venezuela

The Angel Falls are 3230 feet high with a 2647 foot uninterrupted drop. They are in the Orinoco river dropping off the edge of the Auyantepui mountain in the Canaima National Park.
10. Which capital city is the highest above sea level?

Answer: La Paz, Bolivia

La Paz is more than 4,000m above sea level making it higher than the second highest, Quito, Ecuador's capital city by roughly 800m. There is more than one capital city in Bolivia. Sucre is the constitutional capital also at quite a high elevation.
