The "Voie Sacrée" was a road to supply the troops around Verdun. It was opened on command of the French government and there were specially trained workers to repair the road whenever it was hit by German artillery.

The Desert Mounted Corps, stationed in Palestine, consisted of Australian, New Zealand and Indian cavalry. They were responsible for the breaktrough on the Gaza-Beersheba lines during the Third Battle of Gaza on 31 October 1917. The Turks were forced to retreat.

He battled in the Alps against the Italians. With only 250 specialized mountain troops he took 9,000 Italian soldiers prisoner on 27 October 1917.

Douglas MacArthur commanded the 42nd Division in 1918. That division had that name because the men in that division came from all US states.

Lettow-Vorbeck fought against the British and Belgians in East Africa, in what is now Tanzania. Because he was informed late of the German surrender, he kept fighting for a further two weeks. At the time of his surrender he still had 175 Germans and 3,000 Askaris under his command. He returned to a hero's welcome in Germany.

They didn't: on 1 October 1918 the Australian Light Horse took the city.

Nearly 400 tanks were used in this battle as a cover for the advancing infantry. But these tanks were basic and slow, and sometimes they even got stuck in the mud. The battle started on 20 November 1917, but the advance was stopped early December due to a heavy German counter-attack.
