Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What frozen concoction has 7-Eleven been selling since the 1960s?

Answer: Slurpee

7-Eleven, or 7-11 for short, is the name a chain of convenience stores in several countries including the United States and Japan. In 1965, the company made a deal with The ICEE Company and began selling their product in stores but had to use a different name according to one of the deals in the contract, thus birth was given to the Slurpee.
2. Take a tortilla, fry up a side, turn it over, add cheese, meat, onions, or whatever you desire, and what do you have?

Answer: Quesadilla

Quesadillas were created in old Mexico. It is one of the simplest dishes you can cook. All you really need is a tortilla and cheese, but people over the years have become very creative with what is included in the dish. Anything from mushrooms to chili could be added.
3. Which one of these meats can come in either smoked or honey and is best friends with an egg?

Answer: Bacon

I can take practically any food and make it better with some bacon. It mixes well with burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and even burritos. I've never had bacon flavored ice cream, but I'm sure it would be good.
4. Blueberry, lemon, apple, and cherry are all used in what type of dessert?

Answer: Pie

Pies have been around for more than 10,000 years. Back then, they were not used much for desserts. They were used on long journeys so people would not have to take live food with them.
5. "Taste the rainbow" is the slogan for which of these fruit-based candies?

Answer: Skittles

Skittles were created in 1974 in the UK. The US started producing them in 1982, and since then, they have become one of the most popular candies in all of the world.
6. The microwave was one of the most ingenious inventions of the 20th century. Instead of waiting up to hours to eat our favorite dishes, we could have it in a matter of minutes. David and Paul Merage took advantage of this and created what brand in the 1970s?

Answer: Hot Pockets

Hot Pockets were introduced to people who wanted their favorite foods prepared quickly. Some of their more popular varieties are ham and cheese, cheeseburger, and meatballs and mozzarella.
7. Was the Philly cheesesteak actually created in Philadelphia?

Answer: Yes

The Olivieris, Harry and Pat, are the people who invented this sandwich. It's a simple dish with just bread, steak, and cheese, although it often includes onions and peppers.
8. Who would ever believe that a pizza joint would be known more for their potatoes? One was with their Mojo Potatoes. What chain was this?

Answer: Shakeys

In 1954, Sherwood Johnson and Ed Plummer introduced the world to Shakey's Pizza. Not your typical pizza parlor, this place offers a wide variety of grub, from pizza to pasta to chicken. Everything they serve is top notch in the taste department, but nothing tops their Mojos.
9. One Double-Double, Animal Fries, and a Lemon-Up. Where could I order these items?

Answer: In-N-Out

Double-Double is a double cheeseburger of course. The other two items you would only be able to order if you were aware of their secret menu. Animal Fries are regular fries covered with cheese, burger spread, and onions. What's a Lemon-Up you ask? Well, that's lemonade mixed with 7-Up.

For years, In-N-Out could only be had in Southern California. The very first one was established in Baldwin Park. In 2000, the franchise began to expand outside of California, opening a location in Arizona, and shortly after that in Nevada. In-N-Out may be only found in the western United States, but it is known worldwide.
10. I'm sure all ballparks across the world have their own signature foods. None are as famous as the hot dogs found at 1000 Elysian Park Avenue. What are those dogs called?

Answer: Dodger Dogs

Dodger Dogs were invented by Thomas Arthur. For decades, Dodger Dogs have been synonymous with both the team and the stadium. There are dozens of ways to eat one. You could have the common ketchup and mustard. Or perhaps relish and onions? How about salsa, chili, and jalapenos?
