Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. If you head south on Highway 19 from Tucson, Arizona, you will hit this border town. Can you name this town right on the border of Mexico and the United States?

Answer: Nogales

You can find quite a few bargains across the border. I found the best blankets cheap! Just don't wash them too many times. They tend to shrink quite a bit. From double bed size to Barbie doll size. No, I'm exaggerating slightly. But they do shrink. Know what I mean?
2. This baseball player was born in Refugio, Texas back in 1947. He pitched for the New York Mets in the beginning of his baseball career. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999. Do you know his name?

Answer: Nolan Ryan

Nolan Ryan, like all pitchers, loved to strike out his batters. Rickey Henderson was the 5,000th victim to be struck out by Nolan. Nolan pitched his way for 27 seasons. He was the hero of millions of children everywhere. In the words of baseball, "a batter, a batter... swing!"
3. In this month you can find these days that we celebrate - Sadie Hawkins Day, National Men Make Dinner day and National American Teddy Bear Day. What month is this?

Answer: November

There are definitely some strange days that we celebrate different things. You might remember Thanksgiving or even Veteran's Day. In regards to National Teddy Bear day, have you ever been to a Build-A-Bear workshop? You get your unstuffed animal. You can get from bears to dogs. You go get it stuffed and dressed and don't forget to give him or her, a name too.

It's a great idea for kids of all ages.
4. Gary Cooper picked up an award for his role of Marshal Will Kane in this old western movie. What is the name of this movie? "High _______".

Answer: Noon

Gary Cooper was so suave and laid back. Probably the best Marshal a town would ever have too. Gary was born in Montana back in 1901. Gary picked up five Oscar nominations during this film career. He also picked up his first Oscar for the movie, "Sergeant York". Gary Cooper passed away right after his 60th birthday from lung cancer. My personal favorite movie of Gary's was his role of Longfellow Deeds in "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town". Quite a bit different from Adam Sandler's Longfellow's role.
5. Ah, can you smell the roses? Ah, can you smell the fresh sheets that just came off the clothes line? Ah, can you smell the BBQ down the street? What do you use to smell all of these?

Answer: Nose

Can you imagine life with no sense of smell? Have you ever thought about losing one of your senses? Which one would you miss the most? Sight, Touch, Smell, Hearing or Taste. You know which one I would miss, my sense of humor! Harde har har.
6. This man, from the days of the Bible, built an ark for God. Do you know this man's name?

Answer: Noah

Noah was true to God and loved him with all of his heart. God instructed Noah to build an ark. He gave Noah the exact measurements and told him exactly how to build it. Noah invited anyone that wanted to come with him and his family into the ark, to be saved from the flood. People just laughed at him. Noah and his family were saved from the flood, due to his faith in God.
7. In the television show "Cheers" everyone would say hi to this character when he walked in the bar. He was played by George Wendt. Do you know this character's name?

Answer: Norm

Did you know that his character's first name was actually Hilary? Can you imagine the kids in school teasing him. No wonder he went by Norm. "Cheers" was one of the best shows on television. Everyone just got along. Everyone just liked everyone. It was great. If you ever want to visit the bar you'll have to hop over to Boston. I miss Sam, Diane and yes even Cliff. What a show!
8. You can find these cities, Bergen, Oslo, Drammen and Stavanger, in this country. What country is this?

Answer: Norway

I've personally never been to Norway, but I did go to Epcot where they have a small bit of Norway there. The Vikings were the original founders of Norway. Norway just looks so beautiful and peaceful and green. Everything looks so fresh and soft. What I don't understand is why it is called the "land of the midnight sun?"
9. There is a word to describe these items of sewing: Thread, needles, scissors, buttons, pins, etc. What is this word that starts with "no" that I'm thinking of?

Answer: Notion

I don't know who came up with the 'sewing notions' but it combines many different things for sewers. You could have needle threader, pin cushions, quilting pins and even tape measurers. Being a quilter and sewer, I had to use this word. I use it every single day at home.
10. In one of my favorite movies you will find four women getting together to celebrate the birth of Chrissy's upcoming baby. The four women reminisce about the good ole days and their tree house that they saved up for. What movie is this?

Answer: Now and Then

"Now and Then" is such a great chick flick. Roberta, Teeny and Samantha all come to help Chrissy deliver the baby. In the meantime, they start with remembering the days growing up together. They stuck by each other, through thick and thin. The girls tried to contact the dead to find out secrets on how a young boy died. It was cute watching Roberta get her first kiss. Such a great movie!

Thanks for playing the quiz. Take a note, nope, can't think of any words that have "no" in them. Nothing at all comes to mind. Well, it's time for me to nod off. Now, now, I'll be back.
