Leather-face was based on Ed Gein because they were both cannibals and killers, made clothes, masks, and furniture out of human skins and bones. In the remake of the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", made in 2003, Leather-face's name was Thomas Hewitt. People tell me that he was a real person.

He's not. Leather-face was based loosely on Ed Gein. "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was not a true story. I have the DVD of the remake, and the director on the bonus features said he wasn't a real person. So, sorry for the confusion.

2. How and why does Leather-face get his nickname?

Answer: By wearing masks of human skin

Leather-face got his odd nickname from his skin-diseased face, then he kept it by his hobby of wearing people's faces.

I don't know why he chose to use a chainsaw for a weapon.

People get really confused about this, saying that Drayton is Leather-face's dad. He isn't. They're inbred, so I can't tell. Inbred means that you conceive someone in your family to have a baby. It can cause the child to be deformed or insane.
