Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Name the first Bond film produced by Cubby Broccoli.

Answer: Dr. No

In 'Dr. No,' James Bond is investigating the death of another British secret agent. The trail leads him to Jamaica where he unravels a plot by Dr. Julius No, who intends to use radio technology to take down an American manned spacecraft.

Cubby Broccoli co-produced 'Dr. No' with Harry Saltzman in 1962. This wasn't the first ever Bond production released. In 1954 the first screen adaptation of a Bond novel was released in the form of a television programme; this was 'Casino Royale (Climax!)' starring Barry Nelson and Peter Lorre.
2. The title track to 'From Russia With Love,' was sung by whom?

Answer: Matt Monro

Matt Monro was a famous English crooner. He was active between 1956 to his death in 1985. He is well known for songs including 'Portrait of my Love,' 'My Kind of Girl' and 'Walk Away.'

'From Russia With Love,' was composed by Lionel Bart. This film was also the first Bond film to have its main soundtrack composed by John Barry.
3. Bond films are noted for using double entendre especially when it comes to the female stars names. In 'Goldfinger,' this lead female is called Pussy Galore, but who played this risqué part?

Answer: Honor Blackman

Ursula Andress played Honey Ryder in 'Dr. No,' Daniela Bianchi played Tatiana Romanova in 'From Russia With Love,' and Jane Seymour played Solitaire in 'Live and Let Die.'
Honor Blackman played the part of Pussy Galore in 'Goldfinger.' Pussy Galore is first seen working for Goldfinger in the film before being seduced by Bond and finally switching sides to help James out.
Honor Blackman is also known for playing Cathy Gale in 'The Avengers.' She has also appeared in many films, including 'Jason and the Argonauts,' 'A Night to Remember' and even had a cameo appearance in 'Bridget Jones's Diary.'
4. Now for a change in Bond. Who played Bond in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service?'

Answer: George Lazenby

This was the only Bond film Lazenby did. Ultimately he was not a favourite and many considered him to be the worst actor to have played the part of James Bond. He wasn't all that bad though.
5. What is the Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion better known as?

Answer: SPECTRE

SPECTRE is the main organisation faced by James Bond. The Organisation has strict codes on its members identities. It uses numbers rather than code names (e.g. Emilio Largo, the second-in-command, is designated No. 2).
6. Who was the main super-villain and arch-nemesis of James Bond?

Answer: Ernst Stavro Blofeld

Blofeld appeared in 'From Russia With Love,' 'Thunderball,' 'You Only Live Twice,' 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service,' 'Diamonds Are Forever' and 'For Your Eyes Only.' Even though Bond thinks he has killed Blofeld on several occasions, quite obviously Blofeld has as many lives as his cat!
7. Continuing with Bond villains, we come across Francisco Scaramanga, portrayed by one of the greatest 'villanous' actors of all time, Christopher Lee. However, all good villains need henchmen, be they hitmen, bodyguards or in this case a butler. What character was this?

Answer: Nick Nack

Nick Nack was played by Hervé Villechaize, who stood at only 1.18 metres (3'11") tall. He was the main influence for the Mini-Me character in 'Austin Powers.'

In 'The Man With The Golden Gun,' Nick Nack is Francisco Scaramanga's right-hand man. He serves as butler, housekeeper and cook to him. By the end of the film, owing to Francisco Scaramanga's demise, Nick Nack tries for revenge against Bond and ends up stuffed in a suitcase for his trouble.
8. How about Bond's henchmen or rather workmates? After all, if it wasn't for the quartermaster, Q, James Bond would have been dead on numerous occasions. Who had the longest stint playing Q, though?

Answer: Desmond Llewelyn

Desmond Llewelyn played Q 17 times throughout the James Bond films from 1963 to 1999. He died at the age of 85 in 1999 shortly after 'The World is Not Enough' was released.
As Q, we have seen him invent many curious and useful (not all are as useful) gadgets, from missiles in car bonnets to watches with lasers, not to mention Little Nellie, the gyrocopter.
9. The final Bond film Cubby Broccoli was credited as producing was 'Licence to Kill'. This film was a first for any of the other Bond films, but why?

Answer: No part of the film was shot in the UK.

Due to budgetary limits, no part of this film was shot in the UK. The film was also criticised for Timothy Dalton's interpretation of Bond and the film having darker undertones and more violence than any of the previous ones.

Although this was the last film Cubby Broccolli was credited as producer, he did come back to act as a consultant on 'Goldeneye.' He is uncredited as the producer however and is instead credited as the presenter.
10. Cubby Broccolli was famed for producing James Bond films although like many producers and directors he played a bit part in one of his films. Which Bond film did he play a small part in?

Answer: Moonraker

In 'Moonraker,' Cubby played the part of a tourist in Venice alongside his wife Dana Broccolli.

During the film Bond must investigate the disappearance of a space shuttle. His search leads him to mufti-millionaire Hugo Drax, who turns out to be behind the theft as he plots to wipe out humanity and instead create a master race.
