Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Back in the land of the dead, the Corpse Bride laments the fact that Victor does not wish to be married to her. Her friends Maggot and a certain type of spider console her with a song entitled 'Tears to Shed'. What type of spider?

Answer: Black widow

The voice of Black Widow is provided by Jane Horrocks. She also provides the voice of Mrs. Plum in 'Corpse Bride'. Helena Bonham Carter, Jane Horrocks and Ein Reitel perform the song.

It is the Black Widow who mends Victor's wedding attire.
2. Victoria attempts to inform her parents about the fact that Victor is married to his Corpse Bride, but her parents are not sympathetic. They lock her in her room.

Answer: True

Victoria's mother is completely unsympathetic, insisting that the maid Hildegarde 'fetch her a straight-jacket' because 'she's completely mad'. Victoria is locked in her room by her unfeeling mother.
3. Victoria's only recourse is to seek out the only person in the town who will understand how to find Victor. Who is this individual?

Answer: Pastor Galswells

Rather than provide help to Victoria, Pastor Galswells returns her to her home. The Pastor apparently does not buy her story about Victor and his Corpse Bride.
4. Since Victor has gone missing, Victoria's parents decide to have their daughter marry the next available bachelor, namely Lord Barkis. Has Barkis ever been engaged to marry before?

Answer: Yes

Indeed, Lord Barkis was once engaged, but, according to Barkis, his young bride was snatched away in a terrible tragedy. He claims to be very wealthy, something that convinces Victoria's parents that he is finally a great candidate to marry their daughter.
5. What is the name of the driver of the Van Dort's carriage, who keels over and dies after a particularly nasty coughing bout?

Answer: Mayhew

Mayhew's voice is supplied by actor Paul Whitehouse, who also provides the voices for William Van Dort and Paul the Head Waiter. Mayhew is the first of two characters to die in the film. When he arrives in the land of the dead, he encounters Victor and his Corpse Bride, and informs them of the situation.
6. Is Victoria actually ever married to Barkis in the film?

Answer: Yes

Indeed, the two of them get married, with Barkis enthusiastically reciting the wedding vows. Victoria appears completely emotionless at the wedding ceremony. She's quite unhappy about the circumstances within which she has been placed.
7. Back in the land of the dead, the Corpse Bride discovers that she is indeed not 'legally' married to Victor. In order to have their marriage be binding, Victor would have to give up his life. What is the name of the wine he would be required to drink?

Answer: Wine of Ages

When the Corpse Bride hears about the sacrifice that Victor would be required to make to continue his marriage with her, she decides to give up her claims to him. However, Victor, who has overheard the conversation, agrees to make the sacrifice and give up his life.
8. The dead invade the land of the living, and descend on the Everglot's home, where a wedding dinner is being served. Which body part does Mr. Everglot annoyedly discover in his soup after the dead have approached the table?

Answer: Eyeball

The remaining eye of Mr. Bonejangles falls into Mr. Everglot's soup, just as he is about to frighten the pants off the poor fellow. Mr. Everglot seems more annoyed than frightened about the eye, unceremoniously stating, 'There's an eye in me soup.'
9. After a few frightening moments, the living and the dead suddenly start recognizing each other. Wives greet long lost husbands, while grandfathers return to see their young grandchildren. Which member of Mr. Everglot's family appears?

Answer: His grandfather

Mr. Everglot, upon viewing the chaos, exclaims, 'Why, if my Grandfather Everglot could see this, he'd be turning in his grave.' Grandfather Everglot appears, and upon hearing his grandson asks, 'Finis. Where do you keep the spirits?'
10. Besides the driver of the Van Dort's carriage, which other significant character dies during the film?

Answer: Barkis

Barkis is killed after he drinks the poison wine that was supposed to be consumed by Victor. He is then pursued out of the church by the rest of the dead...they have a new member for their club!
