Did You Really Watch the 4th Movie? Quiz

I'll give you something that happened in J. K. Rowling's book "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". You tell me what happened in the movie of the same name. I provide the book information, so a player need not have read the book (except for q. 10)!

In the movie... Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. In the book, Hagrid puts on "eau de cologne", wears a suit, and does something to his hair- and all because he apparently has a big crush on the Beauxbatons' headmistress, Madame Maxime. (Let's base all answers on what is actually seen in the movie- if it's not seen, we can assume the Movie Hagrid didn't do them.) In the movie... Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. In the book, (during the chapter "The Madness of Mr. Crouch",) Harry is having a private conversation with Viktor Krum by the forest when Mr. Crouch grabs Harry. Crouch is acting very oddly, and here I quote the book: "'Don't...leave...me!' [Crouch] whispered, his eyes bulging again. 'I...escaped...must warn...must tell...see Dumbledore...my fault...all my fault...Bertha...dead...all my fault...my son...tell Dumbledore...Harry Potter...the Dark Lord...stronger...Harry Potter'". In the movie... Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. In the book, the end of the third task has arrived. Harry yells out to Cedric and warns him about a gargantuan spider, and Cedric gets out of the way just in time, but Harry doesn't. Regardless of what Harry tries, the spider remains on Harry, hurting him... but finally Cedric saves the day! Harry's leg is bleeding freely, and Harry notices the Triwizard Cup directly behind Cedric. Harry tells Cedric to take it, as Cedric was there, but Cedric tells Harry to take it, as Harry saved Cedric's "neck" twice while in the maze. Cedric thinks Harry should win. After the "You take it" "No, you take it" argument lasts a while, Harry finally says "Both of us". They'll take it together. In the movie... Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. In both the book and the movie, Harry returns from the graveyard and tells Dumbledore "He's back." He continues, "He's back. Voldemort."

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the first chapter of the book, "The Riddle House", an old muggle man named Frank unintentionally eavesdrops on Lord Voldemort and Wormtail talking, the only two people in the room until Voldemort's snake, Nagini, informs Voldemort that an old muggle is standing outside. In the movie...

Answer: ...Barty Crouch Jr. was there too, and Voldemort was giving him an assignment.

The character of Bertha Jorkins is completely left out of the movie, although she is the person in the book who recognized Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail), and ended up serving as a valuable resource. She told Wormtail (who obviously played the messenger and relayed back to Voldemort) that the Quidditch World up was being held, and that the Triwizard tournament was being held at Hogwarts this year, but then had to be murdered.
2. In the book, the Weasleys send a letter (by muggle-mail) to Harry while he is staying with the Dursleys, and cover it entirely with stamps. This is the letter inviting Harry to join their family in attending the Quidditch World Cup. In the movie...

Answer: ...there is no letter, and the Dursleys don't appear at all.

Other unfortunately missed details that come from not including any scenes with the Dursleys include Harry being allowed to do his homework by daylight because he has informed his Aunt and Uncle that he has a godfather that is an escaped criminal convicted of mass murder (Sirius Black, whom Harry had "conveniently" forgotten to tell his Aunt and Uncle was innocent), and the Dursleys' complete hate everything about the Weasley's when they come to pick Harry up for the Quidditch World Cup.
3. In the book, when Dumbledore announces that the Triwizard Tournament will be held at Hogwarts, he says that the tournament was discontinued when "the death toll mounted [too] high". In the movie...

Answer: ...Dumbledore doesn't announce that there was a death toll.

The Triwizard Tournament was established 700 years ago, and is a very dangerous wizarding tournament during which a champion is chosen from each of three wizarding schools. These champions must perform difficult tasks, and they could die. For this reason, there is now an age limit, and only witches and wizards who have come of age (are 17) are allowed to compete.
4. In the book, Mad Eye Moody demonstrates the three unforgivable curses to Harry's class with spiders. He first shows the curse that gives the enchanter "total control"- the Imperius Curse. Then Moody enlarges the spider with "Engorgio!". Moody then shows the pain that a spider experiences with the Cruciatus Curse. Lastly, he kills the spider with "Avada Kedavra"- the Killing Curse. In the movie...

Answer: ...everything happens almost exactly the same way, but Moody enlarges the spider before the Imperius Curse instead of the Cruciatus Curse.

In both the movie and the book, Ron remembers his father speaking of the Imperius Curse because, as Moody informs the class, that curse gave the Ministry of Magic a lot of trouble. (Ron's father works for the Ministry.) Neville, surprisingly, volunteers with the Cruciatus Curse. Neville's parents had both been tortured to insanity with this painful curse- which is why Neville has been raised by his grandmother. Harry then gets the opportunity to watch a spider die the same exact way his parents did- with the Killing Curse. Everyone leaves the class in extreme excitement, and in the book, Ron continues talking about "the way that spider just died, just snuffed it right-" but stops when he sees the look on Harry's face.

Answer: ...Hagrid combs his hair, and does in fact have a big crush on Madame Maxime.

Hagrid tries to impress Madame Maxime with the dragons, and is, in fact, in love. Near the end of the book, and earlier on in the movie, Hagrid mentions that he got his "giant" half of his being from his mother- but both times Madame Maxime doesn't say how she is a half-giant.
6. In the book, Dumbledore calmly asks Harry if he put his name in the Goblet of Fire after picking his name out as an uncalled-for fourth student. In the movie...

Answer: ...Dumbledore grabs Harry and more roughly asks him the same question.

Dumbledore is portrayed with a much more trusting personality in the book, and he is very kind to Harry. In both the movie and the book, however, it is a very few number of teachers and students who believe that Harry didn't put his name into the Goblet of Fire. Dumbledore is certainly one of those few.
7. In the book, the house elf Dobby steals the gillyweed from Professor Snape and gives it to Harry (to use in the second task). In the movie...

Answer: ...Mad Eye Moody gives Neville the idea of having Harry use gillyweed, and Neville tells Harry about the amazing plant.

Of course, it is Alastor "Mad Eye" Moody's imposter that wants Harry to use the gillyweed, because Barty Crouch Jr. needs Harry to get through all three tasks and reach the Triwizard cup first. That way, the portkey will be triggered, and Voldemort will be able to use Harry's blood to return to a bodily form! In the movie, Neville directly helps out Harry, but Mad Eye forces the reluctant Harry to swallow the actual gillyweed, and it is determined later that the plant was stolen from Snape's personal supply.

Note: I let about 40 people play this quiz before realizing that I had this question's "correct answer choice" incorrect! An incorrect answer choice being that Neville stole it was closer to the correct answer, so only 7% of people were getting it correct! Therefore, I ask you, the current player, to do two things.
First off, ignore the percentage of people getting this question correct- IT ISN'T ACCURATE!
Secondly, Please RATE my quiz! People, most likely, will have been annoyed by my incorrect answer, and rated the entire quiz poorly, so, if you liked the quiz, MAKE UP FOR THEM! Please!

Answer: ...Harry doesn't have this private conversation with Krum, and none of this happens.

In the movie, there are no real hints (such as this one in the book) foreshadowing Barty Crouch's master scheme in helping Voldemort return to his full power. Also, in the book, this conversation occurs, and Harry leaves Krum with Crouch. Harry then runs and finds Dumbledore, and when they return, Krum is stunned, and Crouch is gone! It's just more mystery...

Answer: ...Harry's actually the one that reaches the cup first, and Cedric must be saved, but they still decide to take the cup together.

The movie does just about as good a job as the book at making it realistic that Harry would feel awful about Cedric dying... not only because it is natural to be upset at a friend's murder, but because Harry made- even forced- Cedric to take the cup! In the movie, Cedric is struggling, and Harry is inches away from the cup, hesitates for a moment, then stops to save Cedric. Cedric says Harry was there first, and should take the cup, as Harry deserves to win. Harry insists that Cedric take the cup with him, and thus leads to Cedric's death (a direct result from touching the Triwizard Cup portkey).

In the book, Cedric should win, as he's closer to the cup and turns back to save Harry. Cedric keeps insisting that Harry deserves to win, as Harry warned Cedric about the dragons, and saved Cedric's life twice in the maze. Harry again forces Cedric to take the cup, and unintentionally kills him.
10. In both the book and the movie, Harry returns from the graveyard and tells Dumbledore "He's back." He continues, "He's back. Voldemort."

Answer: True

I changed up the style of this quiz slightly for this question! In the book, much more happens as a result of Harry saying Voldemort is back, and Dumbledore and Sirius listen to an entire recount of what has happened. In the movie, very little remains after this scene, but it is to be understood that Harry has told Dumbledore everything.
