Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. After a brawl in the train station near the beginning of the movie, Peter tells Susan, Edmund and Lucy that he's tired of being treated like a kid. "Uh, we are kids?" Edmund answers. What is Peter's response?

Answer: "But I wasn't always."

Peter is referring to a year ago, when he and his siblings ruled as Narnian Kings and Queens. This statement is followed by a weary question to the other three; "It's been a year. How long does he [referring to Aslan] expect us to wait?" Peter is longing to go back to Narnia. Susan is just getting settled down to life in England, and later in the movie almost seems to resent going back to Narnia.

It's not really clear what Edmund and Lucy think, but they're all very excited when they are pulled back into Narnia.
2. After the Pevensies save the dwarf Trumpkin from the hands of the Telmarines, what contest do they challenge him to in order to convince him that they are the "kings and queens of old"?

Answer: A swordsmanship contest with Edmund

When Peter hands Trumpkin his sword, the dwarf nearly drops it in the sand due to its weight. He soon proves himself an expert with the sword, though, and the contest looks fairly matched until Edmund swings Trumpkin's sword out of his grasp and holds his own sword to the dwarf's throat.
3. Prince Caspian flees the castle with his uncle Miraz's men chasing him, under orders to kill him because Miraz finally has an heir. After Caspian blows Susan's horn, he is knocked unconscious and taken to the home of some old Narnians. When he comes to, who does he find discussing his fate in the adjacent room?

Answer: Nikkabrik and Trufflehunter

Nikkabrik the dwarf wants to kill Caspian, because "He's a Telmarine!" Trufflehunter, the badger, pleads Caspian's case, saying, "That would be like murdering a guest!" Eventually, Caspian reveals his royalty and his life is spared by Trufflehunter, who quickly becomes his advocate with the rougher Nikkabrik.
4. Why do the Pevensies and Trumpkin end up at an impassable gorge (the first time)?

Answer: Because Peter refuses to listen to Trumpkin's directions

Peter states, with some certainty, that the only way to get to Aslan's How is to cross at the River Rush. Trumpkin objects: "But unless I'm mistaken, there's no crossing in these parts."
"That explains it, then," Peter snaps at him. "You're mistaken."
Of course, Trumpkin ends up being right, because in the hundreds of years since the children have been there, the Rush has eroded its beds and dropped at least a hundred feet lower than before. Lucy sees Aslan motioning to them while they're there, but the others refuse to follow her (with the exception of Edmund, who tells the others that "the last time I didn't believe Lucy, I ended up looking pretty stupid.").
5. Who is the first to hold a sword at Caspian's throat?

Answer: Reepicheep

As Prince Caspian, Nikkabrik and Trufflehunter are heading through the woods for Aslan's How (the plain where the mound hiding the Stone Table is), they are attacked by a cadre of crossbowmen. Trufflehunter is wounded in the ensuing flight, while the crossbowmen are taken down by a mysterious something that slithers around in the grass. It ends up being the noble mouse, Reepicheep, who nearly kills Caspian, but is interrupted by Trufflehunter. "I trust you have a very good reason for this untimely interruption," he growls angrily.
"He doesn't," says Nikkabrik noncommittally. "Go ahead."
Of course, Caspian is once again spared by Trufflehunter's explanation and Reepicheep immediately swears his allegiance to Caspian.
6. When Lucy meets Aslan, he commends her for following him.

Answer: False

Actually, Aslan reprimands Lucy for not following him at the gorge and leaving the others behind. He answers her plea by telling her that no one will ever know what would have happened. When she asks why he hasn't been around, he tells her that "things never happen the same way twice, dear one."
7. Who is the first to get into position during the raid on the castle?

Answer: Edmund

The griffons carry the kings and queens (sans Lucy, who stays at the How) to the castle and deposit them in their positions. Edmund is first. He, with his flashlight (English: torch) is placed on a tower and will signal the troops. The other three are set down on the gangway bridge between the castle and the outer courtyard, where they disperse to their various missions.

It is Peter's idea to raid the castle. He tells the gathered that "our only hope is to strike them before they strike us." Caspian disagrees, and says so, but submits to Peter's authority as High King. He later regrets it.
8. Whose idea is it to change the plan in order to question Miraz?

Answer: Caspian's

When Caspian sneaks down to the dungeons to set his professor free, Cornelius tells him, "Do not underestimate Miraz as your father did." This gives Caspian the clue he needs about his late father's death and he rushes up to Miraz's room to discover the truth about his father. This move turns out to be the one that ultimately ruins the castle raid.
9. Why does Peter call off the raid on the castle?

Answer: Because the gate is about to close and Miraz has crossbowmen shooting at them

Caspian urges Peter to call it off once Miraz is roused and rallying his men. Peter, frantically turning the wheel to open the gate, replies, "No! I can still do this!"
Susan, who along with Caspian reluctantly joins Peter in opening the gate, asks him pointedly, "Just who are you doing this for, Peter?" He has no time to answer, though, because then the Narnians come crashing through the gate. It all goes downhill from there.
The King's men cut the rope holding the gate up and a minotaur barely reaches it in time. He's able to hold it up long enough for less than half of the Narnian army to retreat under before he falls, dead. High King Peter, the Magnificent, has to ride away from his desperate subjects, trapped in a chasm of death because of his poor choices.
10. Who or what stops the argument between Peter and Caspian, after the ill-fated castle attack?

Answer: The arrival of the wounded Trumpkin

Trumpkin falls out of a window from a wound in the middle of the castle raid. He might have been dead, but he is somehow rescued and brought back to the How. A drop of Lucy's cordial revives him, and he even gets up the nerve to tell her thank you.
