Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. From Hell:

Answer: From Hell

'Aus der Hoelle' would be the translation, but they left it at 'From Hell'. One of the best movies I've ever seen, starring Johnny Depp, Heather Graham, Ian Holm and Robbie Coltrane.
2. There's Something About Mary:

Answer: Verrueckt nach Mary

Would be translated as 'Crazy for Mary'. Everyone here loved the movie (my English teacher in 11th grade even did it in school with us!). Starring Cameron Diaz, Ben Stiller and Matt Dillon.
3. Whatever It Takes:

Answer: Hoffnungslos verliebt

Would be translated as 'Hopelessly in Love'. One of the countless teen movies, but a great one - if you loved 'She's All That', you'll love this movie, too. Starring Shane West, Marla Sokoloff and Jodi Lyn O'Keefe.
4. Romeo + Juliet:

Answer: Romeo und Julia

The name Juliet doesn't exist in the German language. Baz Luhrman's version of Shakespeare's masterpiece, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, was very successful here, and the movie deserved it (I'm not a Leonardo fan, but holy moly, this guy CAN act!).
5. Not Another Teen Movie:

Answer: Nicht noch ein Teenie-Film

The title has been translated literally. Well, we have this movie, and we have 'Scary Movie'... is there any popular genre left to make a parody on?
6. Antitrust:

Answer: Startup

The term 'Startup' is used in the German language, too. The movie starred Ryan Philippe, Claire Forlani and Tim Robbins.
7. Amelie:

Answer: Die fabelhafte Welt der Amelie

'The Fabulous World of Amelie', nearly literally translated from its French title. Watch this wonderful movie if you haven't done so already!
8. Interview With The Vampire:

Answer: Interview mit einem Vampir

My all-time-favorite movie! Starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, Kirsten Dunst, Christian Slater and Stephen Rea. Before the movie came out, the novel was titled 'Gespraech mit dem Vampir' which is a literal translation. The later editions of the book were all named after the German movie title which would be 'Interview With a Vampire'.
9. Great Expectations:

Answer: Grosse Erwartungen

Another one of my favorites, after Charles Dickens' novel. Starring Ethan Hawke, Gwyneth Paltrow, Anne Bancroft, Chris Cooper and Hank Azaria.
10. Angel Eyes:

Answer: Angel Eyes

'Engelsaugen' would be the translation. This movie has become sort of a secret here - nobody knows it, but when you tell someone to watch it, they're all swept away (so was I). Starring Jennifer Lopez and Jim Caviezel, the cute guy from 'Frequency'.
11. Legends of the Fall:

Answer: Legenden der Leidenschaft

The Germans decided to call it 'Legends of Passion', which fits it quite well. The movie that made Brad Pitt famous here. Starring Anthony Hopkins, Brad Pitt, Aidan Quinn and Julia Ormond.
12. The Silence of the Lambs:

Answer: Das Schweigen der Laemmer

Ah yes, this movie... a modern classic. It won five Oscars, and every award was well deserved. Starring Anthony Hopkins, Jodie Foster and Scott Glenn.
13. Scream:

Answer: Scream - Schrei

Yes, they kept the title and added the translation.
14. Some Like It Hot:

Answer: Manche moegen's heiss

Again a literal translation. Billy Wilder's funniest movie, starring this great duo Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon - and Marilyn Monroe, of course. 'I am a man!' - 'Nobody's perfect!'
15. Valentine:

Answer: Schrei wenn du kannst

Don't ask me why they didn't keep the original title... they named the movie 'Scream if You Can' which implies somehow that this is just another scary movie that followed 'Scream'. Actually, I think that this movie is a little different. Based on a novel by Tom Savage.
