Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Night at the Museum (2006)

Answer: Ben Stiller

"Night at the Museum" (2006) is the first of the 'museum' trilogy, all staring Ben Stiller. At night the exhibits come alive and cause chaos. "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" (2009) and "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" (2014) complete the series. "Night at the Museum" was not a critical success but had tremendous box office.
2. Night of the Living Dead (1968)

Answer: George Romero

Although there had been zombies in previous films, George Romero's low budget hit was to set loose a trend that continues. It was criticized for its gory content at first release but is now considered a classic. "Night of the Living Dead" is less gory than most of its subsequent editions on screen and television.
3. It Happened One Night (1934)

Answer: Clark Gable

"It Happened One Night" was the first film to earn five Academy Awards--Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, and Screenplay. It was rushed to movie houses just before the Hays Office got fully organized. The film made Clark Gable the prototype Hollywood leading man.
4. Night in Casablanca (1946)

Answer: Marx Brothers

After a five year absence from the screen, the Marx Brothers returned in "Night in Casablanca", a film that was in controversy before filming started. Intended to be spoof on 1942's "Casablanca", it immediately drew the ire from that film's producers.

The script was changed to make more of a Nazi parody. It was not up to the quality of the classic Marx productions. They made their final film as a team in 1949 "Girl Happy".
5. Night at the Roxbury (1998)

Answer: Saturday Night Live

"Night at the Roxbury" was developed into a feature film by Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan based on skits from "Saturday Night Live".. That has happened to several times to "SNL" presentations. Rotten Tomatoes gave it an 11% rating and said "one-note characters and plots unreasonably stretched to feature length runtime."
6. Saturday Night Fever (1977)

Answer: John Travolta

This film moved John Travolta from a TV flash-in-the-pan to be an A-List actor. Travolta is Tony Manero, a young man who spends his weekends dancing and at a local discothèque. Background music is supplied by the Bee Gees who honed their music to the rhythm of the human heart beat.
7. Date Night (2010)

Answer: Steve Carell and Tina Fey

Steve Carell and Tina Fey are a married couple who set up a time when they can get away from the distractions in their lives and devote time to each other. In a case of mistaken identity, they are kidnapped and have a dangerous but comic adventure. It nearly tripled its cost at the box office in spite of mixed reviews.
8. Good Night and Good Luck (2005)

Answer: Edward R. Murrow

David Strathairn is Edward R. Murrow and George Clooney is Fred Friendly of "See It Now" as host and producer. Together they openly oppose the tactics of Senator Joseph McCarthy who is waging a vicious vendetta against alleged communists in government. "Good luck and good night" was Murrow's sign off phrase.
9. Night of the Iguana (1964)

Answer: Tennessee Williams

The film is based on Tennessee Williams' 1961 play of the same name. A defrocked preacher (Richard Burton) leads middle-aged Baptist women on a tour of the Mexican coast. In the process he must deal with his own personal demons. John Huston directed, and Ava Gardner, Sue Lyon, and Deborah Kerr co-star. It has an 81% Rotten Tomatoes rating.
10. Night of the Hunter (1955)

Answer: Charles Laughton

This film noir was directed by Charles Laughton--the only film he ever directed. It is considered one of the scariest films of all time, based mostly on the performance of Robert Mitchum as Reverend Harry Powell, a serial killer, and upon Laughton's inventive direction in which he utilized techniques from German silent movies. Laughton wanted to play the lead role but was compromised into the director's chair.

He had little interest in directing again although "Night of the Hunter" is regarded as a masterpiece of black and white cinema photography.
