Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the occupation of Jennifer Hills in "Day of the Woman"?

Answer: Writer

Camille Keaton played the role of Jennifer. Jennifer had rented a cottage in what she thought would be a quiet and inspirational place. Sad to say, she was wrong and paid a heavy price for her choice. Jennifer was brutally assaulted by four men from the town that was close to her cottage. Jennifer was not a quitter and got revenge on all the men. She killed each of them in a different and unique way.

"Day of the Woman" was the original title of the movie, it was later re-released as "I Spit On Your Grave". This is the title that I am familiar with, as I am sure many are as well. The film was released in 1978. Meir Zarchi was not only the director of the film, but was also the husband to the star at the time.
2. Who was Sarah dating when Harry Warden returned to town in " My Bloody Valentine 3D"?

Answer: None

After Tom returned to town, Sarah was married to Axel. Axel was having an affair with Megan and thought Sarah was oblivious to that fact. Sarah did know and when she and Megan were attacked in the grocery store she still tried to save Megan. It turned out that when Tom was attacked by Harry in the mines, he went insane from it. Tom took on the role of Harry in his mind and was responsible for the killing of the townspeople upon his return to town.

Jaime King played the role of Sarah Palmer. Sarah had a son, Noah with Axel, the sheriff of the town. The movie was released in 2009. It was a remake of the original that was released in 1981.
3. "The Most Terrifying Nightmare Of Childhood Is About To Return", was the tag line for which horror movie?

Answer: "The Boogeyman" (1980)

The tag line to me suggested that it could be for the sequel, but it was for the original version. The movie was first released in 1980. The movie was about two young children who saw their mother involved with her boyfriend. The boyfriend tied Willy to the bed with a pair of stockings. Willy was cut free by his sister, Lacey. Willy went to the bedroom with the knife Lacey used to free him and killed the boyfriend. All these events were forever captured in the bedroom mirror.

When Lacey returned to her childhood home, the mirror was broken.

The broken mirror released the boyfriend from his prison and he tried to get revenge on Lacey and Willy.
4. What did Abbey use to kill Mother in the movie "Mother's Day"?

Answer: inflatable boob pillow

Abbey smothered Mother to death with the pillow. She had come a long way in the movie. She transformed from a nerdy looking woman to an attractive woman bent on revenge. She along with her friend, Trina, killed the members of the family who assaulted and killed their friend. The death scene of Mother had to be one of the most original yet extremely bizarre I have ever seen.

The movie was released in 1980. It was written and directed by Charles Kaufman. Nancy Hendrickson played Abbey and Tiana Pierce played Trina. Deborah Luce played the woman whom the men killed; her name was Jackie in the film. Last, but certainly not least, Rose Ross played the role of Mother. I remember watching this movie so many times with my brother that we actually could quote lines from it.
5. Who was responsible for Mary Lou's death in "Prom Night II"?

Answer: Billy

Mary Lou was about to be crowned Prom Queen when suddenly a stink bomb was dropped on her. Her boyfriend, Billy was angry with her and dropped the bomb on her to get even. He didn't mean for it to kill her, only to embarrass her. The fuse from the bomb ignited Mary Lou's dress and she burnt to death. She was not crowned Prom Queen. Many years later, Vicki discovered Mary Lou's prom accessories in a old trunk. She inadvertently released the spirit of Mary Lou. Mary Lou went on a killing spree that only ended when the crown was placed on her dead burnt body.

When I first saw this movie, I thought it was meant as a sequel to the original. I did like it and the scene where she confessed her sins was very funny. "Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II" was released in 1987. Lisa Schrage played the role of Mary Lou Maloney.
6. After the death of his wife and daughter in "The Changeling", where did John rent a house?

Answer: Seattle, Washington

John's wife and daughter were killed in a car accident. He rented a mansion to get his life back on track and get some work done. It was not too long after John occupied the house that strange things started to happen. He heard noises and a red rubber ball that he had thrown into a nearby river came rolling down the steps. John held a séance and discovered that a young boy named Joseph was causing the disturbance. John found a the room in the attic where Joseph was kept. John found out that Joseph was murdered and his family adopted a very similar boy to take his place. The boy grew up to be a Senator. John confronted the Senator with this and he of course denied it.

The movie was released in 1980, it starred George C. Scott as John Russell. I learned that the director, Peter Medak based this movie on his own personal experience. He said that everything in the movie really happened to him. My source for this information was Wikipedia.
7. "It Rests Over 13 Acres of Earth Over The Very Center of Hell..!", was the tag line for which horror movie?

Answer: The Last House on the Left

I first saw this movie a few years back and it was unforgettable. The one thing I remember the most was the woman with the crazy hair, Sadie. Jeramie Rain played the role of the crazy haired psycho. She was to me the scariest part of the movie given the way she seemed to really enjoy the things she and the others did to Mari and Phyllis. The movie was the ultimate revenge film. When Mari's parents discovered her in the woods and found out what happened to her, they got revenge for the death of their daughter.

The movie was released in 1972. It was written and directed by Wes Craven. Wes is a master of horror, he also directed "The Hills Have Eyes" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street", the originals. Mari was played by Sandra Peabody and Phyllis was played by Lucy Grantham. Another interesting note I discovered was Sean Cunningham was the producer on the film. Sean is another master of the genre having given us "Friday The 13TH", the original.
8. What flavor of ice cream did Michael tell his mom he wanted in the movie "Jaws"?

Answer: Coffee

Michael was taken to the hospital, he was in a state of shock. The shark had just passed inches by him and Michael just floated there watching as the shark went by. The doctor told Martin and Ellen that Michael would be fine. The doctor wanted to keep Michael overnight for observation. Ellen asked Michael if he wanted anything and he told her his cars and ice cream. Shortly after that, Martin pulled Larry into an empty hospital room and got him to sign the voucher to hire Quint.

Chris Rebello played the role of Martin's oldest son. This was Chris's only acting credit. Sadly, Chris passed away in the year 2000 from a heart attack. "Jaws" is the only movie that still can make me jump to this day. It was released in 1975 and won three Academy Awards, one for Best Music, Original Score.
9. Where did Eddie arrange to meet Karen in "The Howling"?

Answer: Adult Theater

In an attempt to capture a serial killer, Karen, a reporter agreed to meet with Eddie at the theater. She went into the room and there were graphic images that were playing on the wall in the room. Karen turned around and saw Eddie, then the police arrived and killed him. Karen, along with her husband, went to her doctor's retreat to relax and get treatment. That was when the real weirdness started. Karen soon found out the others there were werewolves including her husband. Karen killed all the werewolves by burning the barn down that they were in. Karen allowed herself to be viewed live on the news transforming into a wolf. She was shot and killed on live television to prove her story was true.

Dee Wallace played the role of Karen White. Dee has been in several horror movies including "The Hills Have Eyes", the original and the remake of "Halloween". I met her in September of 2010, she is a very sweet and gracious person. Dee is probably best known for her role in "E.T.".
10. In the movie by the same name, what type of vehicle was Christine?

Answer: Plymouth

Christine was a 1958 Plymouth Fury. She was bought by Arnie after he saw her for sale. Arnie did start to work on Christine, but most of the work was done by Christine herself. Christine was vandalized one night by a group of thugs. In one gruesome murder after another, Christine got her revenge on the men who vandalized her.

The book went into a lot more detail than the movie. In the book, Arnie took on the traits of Christine's previous owner, Roland D. LeBay. Arnie's attitude changed in both the book and the movie. Christine took over his life and pretty much ended it. John Carpenter directed the film. Stephen King wrote the book of this creepy car. The tag line for the movie was, "How Do You Kill Something That Can't Possibly Be Alive". The movie was released in 1983 and starred Keith Gordon as Arnie. Keith also starred in "Jaws II" and "Dressed To Kill".
11. In the movie,"Psycho", what was the name of the town Sam lived in?

Answer: Fairvale

Marion had just left Phoenix and was headed to meet her boyfriend, Sam. Marion had just stolen $40,000.00 from her boss and was making a getaway. Unfortunately for her, she didn't make it that far due to the rain. Marion wound up at Bates Motel. She was met by an extremely friendly and handsome young man, Norman Bates. Norman offered to have Marion up to the house for dinner, but Mother would have nothing of that. Norman brought down a meal of sandwiches for them. Marion retired to her room shortly after that. She decided to take a nice refreshing shower; that was the last thing she ever did.

"Psycho" was released in 1960 and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It was based loosely on a true story. Ed Gein was the inspiration for this and several other movies of the genre. Ed was deeply disturbed by the death of his mother and used to wear her clothes. He also murdered two women and was a grave robber. He used the body parts from the dead to make a female suit which he wore. He also made lamp shades and other objects from the body parts. "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "Silence of The Lambs" were also based loosely on Gein.
12. How did Ted die in "Friday The 13TH: Part II"?

Answer: Ted did not die in the movie.

Ted was the prankster of the counselors. He was the one who had Jeff's truck towed in the beginning of the movie. Ted was also the one who jumped out of the woods while Paul told the story of Jason. Ted was one of the counselors who went out for a beer, the night that Jason killed the counselors who stayed behind.

"Friday The 13TH: Part II" was released in 1981, one year later than the original. It was directed by Steve Miner. The film was the second instalment in a series of twelve which included the remake in 2009. The first three are my favorites in the series and I still watch them at least twice a year.
13. What were the names of the twins in "Prom Night", the original?

Answer: Robin and Alex

Robin wandered into a game of the killer is going to get you. The other kids already in the building chased her around and to me seemed intent on really hurting her. They inadvertently succeeded when she fell out of the window to her death. Alex never got over the death of his sister and went for revenge. It was ironic that Alex, who was trying to get revenge for the death of his sister was actually killed by his older sister, Kim.

Kim was of course played by Scream Queen, Jamie Lee Curtis. The movie was released in 1980 and directed by Paul Lynch. Jamie has starred in some of my all time favorite horror movies, including the original "Halloween" and "The Fog".
14. In "Halloween II" (2009) how did Michael die?

Answer: Lori stabbed him to death.

We saw Lori walk out of the shed, Michael had taken her to. She was wearing Michael's mask. Later on we saw Lori in a mental health institution. Lori was smiling and we saw her mother approaching her with a white horse. Lori had been through a great deal with the death of her parents and friends. Annie who had survived Michael's first attack was not so lucky in this one. I think this was what finally pushed Lori over the edge. She had lost everyone she loved and cared about. I believe we saw what kind of madness she was capable of in the first film where she shot Michael. I believe when she told Michael that she loved him and then stabbed him that she was taking over his role.

I loved the first instalment of the remake and think it was one the best horror movies ever produced. I liked the way Rob gave us history on why Michael became who he was. The second instalment was good, but I was kind of lost at times. I didn't understand the white horse, I know Michael's mom gave him a toy white horse while he was in the hospital. I think this was very much a Rob Zombie movie and I liked it, but it could have explained more. The movie was released in 2009. Scout Taylor-Compton, Danielle Harris, Sheri Moon Zombie, and Brad Dourif along with Tyler Mane all reprised their original roles from the remake. One thing I did really enjoy was the fact Dr. Loomis saw the error of his ways and tried to make it right.
15. How did Katie die in "Ghost Ship"(2002)?

Answer: Katie died by hanging.

The film started out with the passengers of the Antonia Graza enjoying a quiet night of dining and dancing. Katie was asked to dance by the captain of the Antonia Graza. While they danced, a wire on the ship snapped and went from one side to the other. Suddenly, we started to see people literally falling apart. The crew as it turned out was killing off the passengers and officers of the Antonia Graza. Katie was chased down a hall by two of the men responsible for the killings. She ran into her room and the men were right behind her. We didn't see how Katie was killed until she showed Epps in a flashback.

This movie was released in 2002 and directed by Steve Beck. The movie had a lot of death scenes that were different and unique. The first scene with the wire really shocked me and I have seen a lot of horror movies. The hook to the face of the singer, Francesca and the death of Greer were some good ones as well.
