Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Mystic Pizza" (1988) Julia's character, Daisy Arujo, a poor girl of Portuguese descent, falls for a rich guy from the right side of the tracks, named Charles Gordon Windsor. They met at the pizza parlor where Daisy works with her sister Kit and their friend JoJo. Daisy and Gordon's different backgrounds prove to be too much for their romance. In addition, Gordon ends up being a shallow, spoiled, self-centered heel, and their love is gone with the wind. Who played Julia's doomed love interest in this early film?

Answer: Adam Storke

Adam Storke played the law student who had flunked out of college and thus had a lot of time to kill by hanging out at the pizza parlor where Julia and her sister and friend worked. Storke had a small role in "Death Becomes Her" after "Mystic Pizza" and then concentrated on television work, such as "Crossing Jordan". Matt Damon made an early appearance in "Mystic Pizza" in a bit role, and Ben Affleck tried out for a part and didn't get it. William R. Moses played another role in the movie, that of the married boyfriend of Julia's sister in the movie, played by Anabelle Gish.
2. "Sleeping with the Enemy" (1991) Julia's character, Laura Burney, married a man who ended up being a controlling and abusive husband, Martin Burney. Laura fakes her own death, but isn't able to escape her ex, at least not immediately. The winds should have blown this would-be killer away before Julia married him! Who plays the dangerous husband and enemy in this film?

Answer: Patrick Bergin

The unhinged husband was played by Patrick Bergin, also known for his roles in "Patriot Games" and "Ella Enchanted". Kevin Anderson played Julia's friend, and eventually the man she became involved with after leaving her husband. Eric Roberts is Julia's real-life brother, and he was not in this movie, nor was Kiefer Sutherland, who was engaged to Julia after making "Flatliners" with her in 1990. Julia called off the wedding only days before it was to take place, and was whisked off to Europe by the winds, in the arms of her previous and once-again boyfriend, Jason Patric.
3. "Hook" (1991) Julia plays Tinkerbell, the little fairy who has always been in love with Peter Pan. In this version of the story, Tink didn't get the boy-man either, as he had gone off to the real world to grow up and marry his true love, Wendy, later having three children. The wind literally took this guy away from Julia, because Peter Pan could fly. Who played the grown-up Peter Pan in "Hook"?

Answer: Robin Williams

Robin Williams plays the adult Peter, who needs to rely on Tinkerbell's help again, even though he doesn't love her in that way. The adult Peter once again proves his devotion and friendship by enlisting the audience to bring Tinkerbell back from the brink of death in this version of the story. Dustin Hoffman plays the colorful Captain Hook in the movie, and Bob Hoskins plays Hook's right-hand man (literally), Smee. Musician Phil Collins does appear in the film too, as Inspector Good. Dustin Hoffman's son Max plays the young Peter Pan (Robin Williams' character's son) in the film. Because of the personal problems Julia Roberts was going through when this film was made, she was hospitalized briefly for nervous exhaustion. Fortunately, favorable winds blew and she was able to finish this magical film.
4. "The Pelican Brief" (1993), based on a John Grisham novel, in which Julia plays Darby Shaw, a law student romantically involved with one of her professors. Julia is investigating the seemingly unrelated murders of two Supreme Court Justices, and eventually begins to uncover a potential scandal involving some unethical and environmentally hazardous treatments of an endangered species in Louisiana. Because she is too close to the truth, a car bomb is set and Julia's beau ends up being blown away on the Four Winds. Who played Julia's professor boyfriend in the movie?

Answer: Sam Shepard

Sam Shepard is the professor who meets a terrible end. Denzel Washington is the journalist who helps Julia escape a similar fate. Movie audiences complained that their relationship didn't bloom into a romance in the film, but as Julia had just lost her lover to a bomb, it wouldn't have been logical or in good taste for her to get involved so quickly with someone else. Robert Culp is in the movie and plays the President of the U.S. Lyle Lovett was not in the movie.

The country singer was briefly married to Julia just after this movie came out, but that love did not last either, and they were divorced after less than two years of marriage.
5. In "My Best Friend's Wedding" (1997), Julia plays Julianne Potter, a successful young professional who had made a pact with her best friend from college, Michael O'Neal, that if neither of them were married by the time they turned 30, they would marry each other. The time has come, and Julianne is ready to marry Michael, but lo and behold, Michael has found love with Kimberly Wallace, played by Cameron Diaz. Try as she might, nothing that Julia's character does can dissuade Michael from going to the altar with his love. Who plays Julia's unrequited love interest in this movie?

Answer: Dermot Mulroney

Dermot Mulroney plays the resolute friend of Julianne and fiance of Kimmy. Rupert Everett plays Julianne's current best friend, who is also openly and happily gay, and in no way a love interest. Paul Giamatti has a bit role in the film as a bell hop. Benjamin Bratt was not in this movie, but shortly after it came out, he would become Julia's real life love for a time, until the winds of change blew yet again...
6. Julia didn't lose her man in "Stepmom" (1998), her man is already lost to someone else. Julia is finding her way through a quagmire of relationships - she's dating a divorcee with two kids and needs to bond with both kids whilst weathering the storm of the 'dreaded ex'. Susan Sarandon plays the part of the ex-wife, Jackie, but who plays the part of the husband-to-be, Luke?

Answer: Ed Harris

Ed Harris plays Luke Harrison, ex-husband to Jackie (Susan Sarandon) and husband-to-be to Isabel (Julia). This film centers around the relationships between exes, kids, parents and step-parents. Isabel needs to be mother to two kids (who aren't hers) whilst dealing with the ex-wife who is not too happy with her efforts so far. When Jackie is diagnosed with a terminal lymphoma, she and Isabel finally manage to call a truce.

Liam Aiken plays the part of Ben Harrison, Luke's son. Chris Columbus
directs the film, and David Zayas plays a policeman.
7. "Erin Brockovich" (2000) sees Julia playing a single mother and divorcee who talks her way into a job with her lawyer after losing a personal injury lawsuit. She finds evidence of an industrial poisoning cover-up by a large company and convinces her boss to let her research the case further. While Julia does have a love interest in this movie, George, who plays her ex-husband?

Answer: Nobody, the ex-husband doesn't appear in the film

Erin's husband does not appear in this film, since the movie begins well after he has left the picture, we never find out who he is. The one love interest that she has, George, played by Aaron Eckhart, definitely takes a back seat to the topic at hand, Erin's pushing forward to make sure the case gets tried and justice is done. Albert Finney plays Ed Masry, Erin's lawyer and boss, and Scotty Leavenworth plays Matthew Brockovich, Erin's son.
8. In "Ocean's Eleven" (2001), Julia plays Tess Ocean, the love interest of hotel owner, Terry Benedict. When Benedict's hotel is robbed by Danny Ocean and his team, Tess hears via security cameras that Benedict is willing to give her up for the return of his hotel's money. Tess then ends up being blown back to her ex-husband Danny Ocean. So did she lose the guy or get the guy? Well, a bit of both, really. Who played Terry Benedict in "Ocean's Eleven"?

Answer: Andy Garcia

Andy Garcia played Terry Benedict in this film and also in "Ocean's Twelve" and "Ocean's Thirteen". George Clooney played the "man in charge" of the robberies, Danny Ocean, and Tess' ex-husband and on-again love interest. Matt Damon and Brad Pitt were also part of the "Ocean's Eleven", "Twelve", and "Thirteen" casts, with Matt Damon playing Linus Caldwell and Brad Pitt playing Rusty Ryan.
9. In "Closer" (2004), Julia Roberts, as Anna Cameron, manages to find then lose two men although she's not the only one to find and lose both these men - Natalie Portman, as Alice Ayres/Jane Jones, also has relationships with the same two men - and loses them both. The two men in question are Dan Woolf and Larry Gray. Who plays Anna's husband, Larry in the film?

Answer: Clive Owen

The general gist of the movie is this: Boy meets girl, boy starts relationship with girl, boy meets another girl who he tries to have a relationship with, boy sets up another boy with second girl, boy and girl number two have a relationship and get married, original boy has affair with second girl, original girl has affair with second boy, partners are confronted, a storm in a teacup ensues, everyone ends up single and there's a twist at the end for those of you who weren't hooked already!

Larry Gray is played by Clive Owen who, incidentally played Dan Woolf in the play. Jude Law plays Dan Woolf, Nick Hobbs plays a taxi driver in the film and Patrick Marber wrote the screenplay.

Holy cow! Now that movie's got to keep a person thinking! so many twists and turns to keep a track of, it's almost as if the Four Winds blew through the studio and mixed up the order of the pages of the script...
10. In "Eat, Pray, Love" (2010), Julia Roberts once again goes through a veritable wringer emotionally. Playing Elizabeth Gilbert in the film adaptation of Gilbert's own memoir, Julia's character seems to have everything, a successful career, a seemingly stable marriage, a beautiful home... But all of that changes and she decides to explore life's great experiences, food--in Italy, spirituality--in India, and love--in Bali. Who plays Julia Robert's ex-husband and new partner in the movie?

Answer: Billy Crudup and Javier Bardem

Elizabeth Gilbert's ex-husband, Stephen, is played by Billy Crudup, and James Franco plays David, the man that Julia's character has a short-lived but intense relationship with while finalizing her divorce. Her new lover, Felipe, is played by Javier Bardem. Love was once again imitating art when Julia married Danny Molder in 2002 after having met him on the set of "The Mexican" (in 2000) while he was still married to his first wife. In 2011, the couple had three children, twins born in 2004 and a son born in 2007.
