Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 1986, a then all but unknown Tim Robbins sat behind Tom Cruise in the final dog fight scene of "Top Gun". What was his call sign?

Answer: Merlin

Merlin's real name was Lt. (jg) Sam Wells. After Goose died in an accident, he was replaced first by Sundown. Sundown and Maverick didn't get along very well though. Merlin was assigned as Maverick's (Tom Cruise) partner in his first mission after Top Gun training.
2. In "A Christmas Story", what color did the narrator say Scut Farcus' eyes were?

Answer: yellow

Scut Farcus was the neighborhood bully who tormented all the children daily on their walk to and from school. "He had yellow eyes. So help me God yellow eyes!" Wolves have yellow eyes and the score played the Wolf's theme from 'Peter and the Wolf' whenever Scut appeared on screen.

He was shown as a predator and the smaller children were his prey. Zack Ward's and consequently Scut Farcus' eyes were actually blue.
3. In "The Lost Boys", what was Sam's dog's name?

Answer: Nanook

Sam's dog, Nanook was a Siberian Husky. Nanook is an Inuit word for "bear". Cody was the dog who played Nanook. Sam refered to his dog by name several times during the movie. Most notably after he attacked Sam's brother who had recently become a vampire. Thorn was the name of Max's dog.
4. According to the movie, who wrote "The Princess Bride"?

Answer: S. Morgenstern

The Grandfather read "The Princess Bride, by S. Morgenstern," from the title page. The screenplay and book were actually written by William Goldman. There was never any such person as S. Morgenstern, although the books available to this day still list him as the author.
5. Who framed Roger Rabbit?

Answer: Judge Doom

Judge Doom who was played by Christopher Lloyd, framed Roger Rabbit in the murder of Marvin Acme. Marvin Acme owned Toon Town which Judge Doom wanted, so he could demolish it and build a freeway. "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" won three Academy Awards for Best Sound Effects, Best Visual Effects and Best Editing.

The title lacks a question mark because it is considered to be bad luck in the film industry.
6. In Jim Henson's "Labyrinth" what was the name of the main antagonist played brilliantly by David Bowie?

Answer: Jareth

Jareth was the Goblin King in charge, if a bit reluctantly, of overseeing the Labyrinth and all its denizens. At the heroine Sarah's request, he took her baby brother Toby to the castle at the center of the Labyrinth. After Sarah changed her mind he refused to return the child unless Sarah could solve the Labyrinth. Jareth thought aloud about renaming the child Toby after himself. Hoggle also mentioned his name a couple of times. Michael Jackson and Sting were also considered for the part.
7. In "Willow", Kael was known for wearing what on his head?

Answer: A skull mask

I was disappointed to find it was just a mask and not the character's real face. General Kael was the commander of the evil Queen Bavmorda's great armies, employed to find the child Elora Danan. Elora, It was prophesied could one day overthrow Queen Bavmorda. General Kael was played by Pat Roach, who was the only actor besides Harrison Ford to appear in all three "Indiana Jones" movies.
8. This question is for Pee Wee Herman fans. In "Pee Wee's Big Adventure", what was Exhibit Q?

Answer: A scale model of the entire mall

Early in the film, shortly after having his prized bicycle stolen, Pee Wee held a 'Big Meeting' in his basement. He exhaustively displayed every single piece of evidence, significant or not, to his friends and neighbors in the hopes of finding his stolen bike.

By the time he got around to Exhibit Q, most had fallen asleep or left. Although he was credited 'as himself', Pee Wee Herman is not a real person. His real name is Paul Reubenfeld, though he changed it to Reubens to seek his career in acting.
9. In "Iron Eagle", what question did Doug Masters ask Knotcher after he knocked him down?

Answer: Can you hear me now?

Knotcher had one of his gang tamper with Doug's plane to give himself an advantage in 'The Snake Run' race. After the race and after nearly crashing his plane, Doug told Knotcher he could have killed him. Knotcher acted like he couldn't hear him until he took his helmet off.

Then Doug illustrated his anger with his fist. Yes, these options are all advertising slogans. Doug may have inspired Verizon Wireless' famous phrase, but I doubt it.
10. In "Stand By Me", who was the leader of the older boys' gang?

Answer: Ace

In one of his best roles, Kiefer Sutherland played Ace Merrill. The other boys in the older gang were Billy, Charlie, Eyeball and Vince. "Stand By Me" was based on the novella "The Body" by Steven King, where a gang of four young boys around twelve years old set out to find another kid's lost body. One of the younger boys, Vern, overheard his older brother, Billy, talking about where the body might be.

When Ace found out about the body he decided his gang should find it first.
