In "The Mummy", Jonathan and a few Americans are gambling at a table when Rick approaches. One of the Americans asks Rick to play, and he delivers this reply. Jonathan, who has a desire for money and anything that shines, has no hesitation gambling, but Rick is smart enough not to. As well, Rick has gone through so many battles that he thinks that this should be the only way to gamble.

Lock-Nah, a follower of Imhotep, sees the Medjai, a bodyguard of the pharaoh, Ardeth, fight off multiple attackers with great skill, and tells him this, impressed with his abilities.

By accident, Alex, Rick and Evie's son, puts on the bracelet of Anubis in "The Mummy Returns". It is unbeknownst to anyone until after the attackers have left the O'Connell residence. They leave with the chest of the bracelet, but do not bother to look in it.

The bracelet is stuck on Alex's wrist, and Ardeth tells Alex that by putting it on, it is believed that in seven days the Scorpion King will awaken.

Rick goes and finds Izzy, a former contact, who has a dirigible that Rick thinks can catch up to the train. After Rick tells him the whole situation, Izzy shows sympathy and agrees to help.

Jonathan despises the fact that these super powers alone are the only way to secure a victory for the Emperor. If not for his power to control earth, wind, fire, water, and air, the O'Connells, Jonathan, and Lin could have destroyed the Emperor on their first attempt.

In "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor", as the Emperor gets loose in the streets of Shanghai, the O'Connells, Jonathan, and Lin chase him down. Rick finds a truck that he thinks is fast enough and powerful enough to knock the Emperor off of his carriage.

The owner is in the car, and Rick throws him out without question, and delivers the apology to the man. However, Rick was mistaken as this truck was no match for the Emperor's carriage.

In "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor", Alex tracks down the Emperor and attempts to fight him off alone. Alex carries the enchanted dagger, the only weapon that can kill the sorcerer. Alex is no match for the Emperor alone, but not far behind Alex is his father, Rick.

The dagger's blade is shattered into pieces, but Alex grabs a sharp piece and sneaks up behind the Emperor while Rick fights him one on one. Then, simultaneously, Rick and Alex stab the Emperor, killing him.
