Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What do "Unwritten", "Torn" and "Jealousy" have in common?

Answer: All of these

I believe that life is a state of mind and that the way that you look at things change... not the thing you are looking at. Alanis first pointed this out and all these women are believers. To me, they are three great songs.

"Unwritten" is by Natasha Bedingfield, from her album, "Unwritten".
"Torn" is from Natalie Imbruglia's album, "Left Of The Middle"
"Jealousy" comes off Natalie Merchant's 1995 album, "Tigerlily".
2. Name another song by Naked Eyes besides "Always Something There to Remind Me".

Answer: Promises, Promises

This was the only other song that I remember and there was a video for it:
"She's a Beauty"- The Tubes
"Doctor, Doctor"- The Thompson Twins
"Sunglasses at Night"- Corey Hart

"Promises, Promises" - Artist: Naked Eyes Album: "The Very Best Of Naked Eyes"
3. Rod Stewart did not write his own music. Who else did not write all of his own music?

Answer: Elvis Presley

Believe it or not, "The King" who changed rock and roll did not write his own songs. This is not to annoy any Elvis lovers. I loved him too... he changed a civilization along with Motown and Chuck Berry.
4. Who suggests that "We'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eat"?

Answer: Nickelback

Nickelback give a lot of good advice in "Rockstar", such as telling you that "everyone's got that evil smile and everybody's number is on speed dial" as well.
5. What Beatles song was covered by PM Dawn?

Answer: Norwegian Wood

This was one of their first "sitar songs" and still remains one of my favorites. I think PM Dawn does it well.

"Norwegian Wood" Artist PM Dawn Album: "Of the Heart, of the Soul and of the Cross: The Utopian Experience"
6. Who was playing with the "Queen of Hearts"?

Answer: Juice Newton

About 25 years ago, this was a smash hit by Juice Newton. It seems to have been forgotten but I never will. It was one of the few country songs that I liked until Shania Twain came around.

"Queen of Hearts" - Artist: Juice Newton Album: "Angel of the Morning"
7. Who sang "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes"?

Answer: The Platters

The Platters had a number of great hits like "Lean On Me", and "Only You".

"Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" - The Platters Album: "High Profile"
8. "Bust a Move" was by:

Answer: Young MC

I grew up with Young MC. Snow is Caucasian and the other three are African-Americans. I always loved this song.

"Bust a Move" - Artist: Young MC Album: "Stone Cold Rhymin"
9. For any old school 90 techno fans, this could be easy... otherwise it will be difficult so I will leave a guess. Who sings "Spin Spin Sugar?"

Answer: The Sneaker Pimps

This was during the late nineties and was probably covered by more bands than The Sneaker Pimps but they were big with its success.

"Spin Spin Sugar" - The Sneaker Pimps Album: "Tiger Mouth" (There have been various other artists as well)
10. Who was not part of a movie duet or a duet for a movie?

Answer: Rose McGowan

Huey Lewis and Gwyneth Paltrow sang for the viewers' enjoyment in "Duets." Jennifer Warnes joined Joe Cocker for "Up Where We Belong", and Justine Bateman sang with Julia Roberts in a movie that was once called "Satisfaction" and was changed to "The Girls of Summer."
11. What was the first song that The Beatles sang on the "Ed Sullivan Show?"

Answer: All My Loving

The Beatles started about as clean cut as you could on that show. However, as time progressed and they visited the East, their music changed dramatically as well as the landscape of music and spirituality today.

"All My Loving" - Artist - The Beatles Album: "Please Please Me"
12. I need something from 2008. Who sings "Clumsy"?

Answer: Fergie

This is a song that I hear all day at work on "Lite FM" and I still had to look it up :)

"Clumsy" - Artist - Fergie Album: "The Duchess" Year: 2006
13. My favorite band was always No Doubt and I was all right at first when Gwen went out on her own but wish she would come back to the band. What was the last single they released before Ms. Stefani went solo?

Answer: Underneath It All

With the exception of "Sunday Morning" off the "Tragic Kingdom" album, the other three songs are from "Rock Steady". They filmed these videos in Jamaica. "Hey Baby" was the first released.
14. Songs like "Jet Airliner" and "Jungle Love" were sung by

Answer: The Steve Miller Band

The Steve Miller band were a huge success in the 1970s and had one of the first videos on MTV with "Abra Cadabra"
15. Who tells us that "Everyone's Free to Wear Sunscreen"?
