1. "No National Lachrymosity" is a bit of a mouthful to say. What song does this phrase refer to?

Answer: Don't Cry for Me Argentina

The photo of the Madonna statue was taken in Begijnhof Monastery in the Netherlands and was intended to point to Madonna as the singer. Originally composed for the musical "Evita", Madonna sang the song when she appeared as Eva Perón in the 1996 film "Evita". Madonna's version was released as a single in 1996.
2. "Helios Appropinquates" does not trip off the tongue that well. How is the song better known?

Answer: Here Comes the Sun

The VW Beetle car was a clue for The Beatles, the band who released this single from their "Abbey Road" album in 1969. It was written by George Harrison. John Lennon was not involved in the recording as he was said to have been recovering from a car accident at the time. I don't know whether a VW Beetle was involved or not.
3. What song title sounds like an ionized liquid?

Answer: Electrolite

The photo of the sleeping dog was meant to point to R.E.M., the phase of sleep. Electrolytes can provide a liquid medium for the transfer of electricity. "Electrolite" was released from the group's tenth studio album "New Adventures in Hi-Fi" in 1996.
4. A "Flight towards Bliss" could be said of which song?

Answer: Stairway to Heaven

The blimp, or airship, points to Led Zeppelin as the band. Led Zeppelin released "Stairway to Heaven" in 1971 and it was written for the band's fourth album. It is considered to be one of the classics of rock music. Having an eight minutes track length, it is unusually long for a single.
5. What song can you hear in this "Western Auberge"?

Answer: Hotel California

The photo shows a manhole cover depicting the coat of arms for the city of Cologne on which there is a double-headed eagle, a reference to the American band The Eagles. "Hotel California" was the title track from the album of the same name. The single was released in 1977.
6. "Sounds like I own a channel marker." Which song best reflects this?

Answer: The Boy Is Mine

Sung as a duet by American artists Brandy and Monica, the song appeared on both of their second albums from 1998, both albums called "Never Say Never". It is said to be a response to the 1982 duet "The Girl Is Mine" by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney.
7. "Each Stolen Inspiration" could be an alternative for which song title?

Answer: Every Breath You Take

Released from the 1983 album "Synchronicity", the song was one of the bigger hits of 1983. It was sung by The Police and written by the lead singer Sting. It has gone on to have more than 25 cover versions or samples made.
8. "Sensed by Me" is another way of saying which of these?

Answer: I Gotta Feeling

The Black Eyed Peas released this single in 2009 and, at 14 weeks, was the longest running number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2009. It was the second single from their album "The E.N.D.".
9. "Pineapple" could be slang for which song?

Answer: Grenade

The Mk 2 fragmentation hand grenade, used by the US during the Second World War and later, featured grooves in its cast iron casing. This gave it the appearance of a pineapple, hence the nickname.

Bruno Mars was the singer. "Grenade" topped the charts in over ten countries during 2010 and was from his debut album "Doo-Wops & Hooligans". "Just the Way You Are" was the other number one single from the album.
10. "Conglomerate Nation of Perception" could be dictionary-speak for which song?

Answer: Empire State of Mind

"Empire State of Mind" by Jay-Z and featuring Alicia Keys, is considered a bit of an anthem for New York. Written by Angela Hunte and Jane't Sewell-Ulepic, who were said to be feeling homesick at the time, it was released in 2009 from Jay-Z's "The Blueprint 3" album. Alicia Keys did a sequel "Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down".
