Lexington, Kentucky is the birthplace of Chris Stapleton, born April 15, 1978. Chris grew up in a small town called Staffordsville. Staffordsville is in Johnson County which is on US highway 23. US 23 is called the Country Music Highway and follows through seven eastern Kentucky counties. Each one of those counties have produced a well-known country music artist. Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle are also from Johnson County, KY.

Jaknginger grew up in Lawrence County, Kentucky. Lawrence is the county just north of Johnson County. Ricky Skaggs and Tyler Childers are the country stars from Lawrence County.
