 "Devil's Spoke" was the opening track off of Marling's 2010 release "I Speak Because I Can". Her prior release, the debut disc "Alas, I Cannot Swim", was released in 2008. Both were nominated for the Mercury Prize, an honor bestowed on the best disc released in the UK in any given year.

 This was the self-titled track from her second album. The song title appeared in the track several times. In addition to her accomplishment of being a double nominee for the Mercury Prize for both discs, she was a winner of the Best Female Solo Artist award at the 2011 Brit Awards. This award show is their equivalent of the American Grammy Awards.
