1. Which of the following songs do you think would have been performed by The Grapeful Dead?

Answer: A Touch of Grey Poupon

The group parodied was The Grateful Dead and the actual name of their tune was of course "Touch of Grey". This song was released in 1987, spent nine weeks on the Billboard Top 40 chart reaching as high as number nine.
The songs parodied were "Midnight Train to Georgia" by Gladys Knight and the Pips, "Ziggy Stardust" by David Bowie and "Pinball Wizard" by The Who.
2. Which of the following songs do you think would have been performed by The Traveling Strawburys?

Answer: End of the Lyin'

The group parodied here was The Traveling Wilburys and the actual name of the song was "End of the Line" written as a tribute to Roy Orbison who died before the Wilburys' second album was made.
The parodied songs were "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves, "If You're Gonna Play in Texas You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band" by Alabama and "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" by Sylvester.
3. Which of the following songs do you think would have been performed by Olivia Fig Newton-John?

Answer: Have You Never Been Yellow

The parodied artist minus the fig is Olivia Newton-John. The actual song was "Have You Never Been Mellow" released in February 1975. It stayed on the Billboard Top 40 chart for 11 weeks and went all the way to number one.
The parodied songs here were "Heart Like A Wheel" by Linda Ronstadt, "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" by Elton John and "Son of a Son of a Sailor" by Jimmy Buffett.

Answer: Iron Woman

The parodied band was Black Sabbath and the song was "Iron Man" from their 1970 LP "Paranoid".
The parodied songs were "Jesus Is Just Alright With Me" by The Doobie Brothers and "Me and Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin, "Yummy Yummy Yummy" by The 1910 Fruitgum Company and "25 or 6 to 4" by The Chicago Transit Authority.
5. Which of the following songs do you think would have been performed by The Partridge in a Pear Tree Family?

Answer: Point Me in the Direction of Roswell, N.M.

The parodied group was The Partridge Family and the song title was "Point Me in the Direction of Albuquerque". The song was from "The Partridge Family Album" released in 1970 with David Cassidy as lead singer.
The parodied songs were "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses" by Kathy Mattea, "Bits and Pieces" by The Dave Clark Five, "Pieces of April" by Three Dog Night and "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" by Journey.

Answer: Who'll Stop The Train?

The group parodied was Creedence Clearwater Revival and the song was "Who'll Stop The Rain?". The song was written by lead singer John Fogerty and released in January 1970 going as high as number two on the Billboard chart.
The parodied songs were "Pleasant Valley Sunday" by The Monkees, "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" by Paul Simon and "Green Grass and High Tides" by The Outlaws.

Answer: In the Tropical Summertime

The group parodied here was Mungo Jerry and their hit song was "In The Summertime" from 1970. Mungo Jerry was a British skiffle band and generally considered a one-hit wonder although they did have a couple of other minor hits outside the U.S. "In The Summertime" went all the way to number three on the Billboard chart and sold over 30 million copies.
The parodied songs were "The Cisco Kid" by War, "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight" by Hank "Bocephus" Williams, Jr and "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" by Tiny Tim.

Answer: Wednesday Afternoon

Parodied here is one of my all-time favorite groups, The Moody Blues. The song parodied was "Tuesday Afternoon" also known as "Forever Afternoon". The song was from the concept album "Days of Future Past" released in 1967 and the single reached as high as 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The other parodied songs were "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" by The Temptations, "These Boots Are Made For Walking" by Nancy Sinatra and "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" by Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty.

Answer: Cruel Winter

The parodied group was Bananarama and their hit song was entitled "Cruel Summer". The song was released in 1983 and went as high as number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was ranked as 44th best song of the 80s by VH1.
The songs used as parodies were "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" by The Beatles, "All I Need Is A Miracle" by Mike and the Mechanics and "Stand By Your Man" by Tammy Wynette.

Answer: We Built This City (on Rocks and Rolls)

The parodied group here was the Starship (having already dropped the Jefferson from their name) and the song "We Built This City". It was released in August 1985 and went all the way to number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The songs parodied were "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" by Glen Campbell, "Send Lawyers, Guns and Money" by Warren Zevon and "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" by Scott McKenzie.
