Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Electronically Tested" (1971)

Answer: Mungo Jerry

Mungo Jerry's only hit, "In the Summertime" (reaching number three), was released as a single in late 1970. The album was released a few months later, in March, 1971. As a single, the song has sold just over ten million copies worldwide.
2. "The Rise & Fall" (1982)

Answer: Madness

Released as a single from the album "The Rise & Fall", the Madness song "Our House" peaked at number seven on the Billboard "Hot 100". In 1983, the song won "Best Pop Song" in the Ivor Novello Awards in Britain.
3. "The Crossing" (1983)

Answer: Big Country

Released in 1983, the album featured the single "In a Big Country", which peaked at number seven 17 on the Hot 100. However, the song received much more air time on the radio, and became the third most played song for 1983.
4. "Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret" (1981)

Answer: Soft Cell

Soft Cell's "Tainted Love", which peaked at number eight, appeared on their album "Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret". The song was a cover of Gloria Jones's 1964 recording, which didn't chart in the US. "Tainted Love" stayed on the Hot 100 chart for 43 weeks, the longest of any song at the time.
5. "Freedom of Choice" (1980)

Answer: Devo

Unlike most bands, Devo released the album "Freedom of Choice" a couple months before releasing their hit "Whip It" as a single. The song reached number 14 in the US, and has remained the band's only song to crack the Top 40 list.
6. "Error in the System" (1983)

Answer: Peter Schilling

Released about a year after the West German release, Peter Schilling's "Major Tom (Coming Home)" peaked at number 14 on the Hot 100 chart, and number two on the US Dance Chart. The song is a sequel of sorts to David Bowie's song "Space Oddity", which was released in 1969.
7. "Bigger, Better, Faster, More!" (1992)

Answer: 4 Non Blondes

As a single from their "Bigger, Better, Faster, More!" album, the song "What's Up?" peaked at number 14 on the Hot 100 chart. Like many songs that never say the title in the lyrics, it has sometimes been incorrectly called "What's Going On?" due to the prominent refrain containing those lyrics.
8. "Pet Your Friends" (1995)

Answer: Dishwalla

Everybody alive in '95 will remember Dishwalla's single "Counting Blue Cars" because of the lyrics "Tell me all your thoughts on God, because I'd really like to meet her." The song reached number 15 on the Hot 100, and remained on the chart for 48 weeks.
9. "Europop" (1998)

Answer: Eiffel 65

The single for this album was "Blue (Da Ba Dee)", which reached number six on the Hot 100. As the album was electronic music, which usually never charts well in the US, it surprisingly reached just shy of $3 million in sales, earning a double platinum certification.
10. "Fire and Water" (1970)

Answer: Free

Free's only US hit, "All Right Now" (reaching number four), was released as a single a month before the album on which the song appears. In 2006, "All Right Now" broke the three-million mark for the number of times the song was played on the radio in the United States.
