Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Shadows grow so long before my eyes, with the help of some fireflies."

Answer: Will to Power

"Baby I Love Your Way/Freebird Medley (Free Baby)" (1988). The best slow jam of all time, without question. They took Frampton's and Skynnard's song and made a masterpiece. Kudos, Will to Power.
2. "Boy, I've been watching you, now you're gonna watch me too."

Answer: Pamala Stanley

"Coming Out of Hiding" (1984). Great disco dance song. My little cousin loves it!
3. "Hot is all I feel when you bring your body next to mine." belongs to a one-hit wonder by Nicole J McCloud.

Answer: True

"Don't You Want My Love" (1989). From her '89 album 'What About Me?'. Great voice. She resurfaced in 1997 as Nicole J. McCloud, with another hit too, entitled "One Good Reason."
4. "So baby listen carefully while I sing my comeback song."

Answer: Mark Morrison

"Return of the Mack" (1994). One of the best hip-hop songs of all time. Why are one-hit-wonders always so good?
5. "And you said you had to get your laundry clean."

Answer: Matthew Wilder

"Break My Stride" (1983). I don't know why this was his only hit; it's a good song and he has a kooky appeal of some kind. Mace covered it in the later 90's, but Wilder's was the original.
6. "I was lyin' on the grass on Sunday morning of last week."

Answer: LEN

"Steal My Sunshine" (1999). Good Sample of Andrea True Connection's "More More More (Part I)." Funny thing is, the part they sampled is only about 10 seconds long in the original song.
7. "Jimmy Rogers on the Victrola up high."

Answer: Alannah Myles

"Black Velvet" (1990). It's rumored that she dated her lead guitarist and they had a nasty breakup. Apparently she wasn't a very nice girl to her bandmates at all.
8. "Dear God, Hope you got the letter / And I pray you can make it better down here" belongs to a one-hit wonder by XTC.

Answer: True

"Dear God" (1986). A very strange little tune with a little kid singing in the beginning (and in the end too, I think).
9. "Hanging round, downtown by myself and I had so much time."

Answer: Marcy Playground

"Sex and Candy" (1997). Weird video- that's all I have to say about that one.
10. "Curve's the words, spin's the verb, lovers it curves so freak whatcha heard."

Answer: Blackstreet

"No Diggity" (1996). This was the SONG in 4th grade! They did have a few other minor hits but this was the big one.
11. "Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson, Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson. You're all fakes run to your mansions."

Answer: New Radicals

"You Get What You Give" (1998). Video production got shut down eventually because the kids trashed the mall. You would too if you had to be at a video shoot at 4:30 in the morning. None of their stores were open anyway!
12. "Candy rain coming down, taste you in my mind, and spread you all around."

Answer: Mtume

"Juicy Fruit" (1984). One of my favorite slow jams as well.
13. "Here I am in silence, looking round without a clue."

Answer: Information Society

"What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy)" (1987). Nice little techno ditty with cool drums.
14. "There's so much goin on it's crazy, people all the same."

Answer: Maze

"Back In Stride" (1984). Mid-1980s R and B music is some of the best ever recorded, and this one just proves it.
15. "We used to talk about the weather, making plans together, days would last forever."

Answer: Erasure

"Chains of Love" (1987). Erasure is one of the best bands of all time. They have a cult following, myself included.
