Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Name the band: "A major in love, but in no minor key"

Answer: Aerosmith

This is from "Falling in Love (is so hard on the knees)". Aerosmith have now been going for over 30 years. That is some accomplishment. I always loved this line and it's just one example of Steve Tyler's brilliant writing ability.
2. Which artist gave us this line?: "This Romeo is bleedin', but you can't see his blood."

Answer: Bon Jovi

This is the first line from the amazing "Always". I've heard that it's Bon Jovi's second best selling song (after "It's my Life"). It's not so surprising really, it's a great song.
3. "Calling Elvis", by Dire Straits, contains the titles of several Elvis Presley songs.

Answer: True

Amongst the titles are "Return to Sender", "Love me Tender" (as a rhyming couplet, unsurprisingly) and "Heartbreak Hotel". I think it's a very cleverly written song. The live version on DVD is probably my favourite of their live editions...possibly "Telegraph Road". Either way, Dire Straits are among my favourite bands. They're just amazing.
4. Which solo artist wrote this line? "There's lots of shady characters, lots of dirty deals. Every name's an alias in case somebody squeals."

Answer: Glen Frey

To finish the line: "It's the lure of easy money, it's got a very strong appeal". This is from "Smuggler's Blues". I think it has some of the best lyrics of any song I've heard. The criminal theme goes so well through the whole song. It's well done, I feel.
5. In what song is this line said? "Don't you draw the queen of diamonds boy. She'll beat you if she's able."

Answer: Desperado

"The queen of hearts is always your best bet." Desperado is one of my favourite songs by the Eagles. It is clear that Don Henley (drummer, singer) had a hand in writing this song, since it is usually easy to tell his songs from Glen Frey's (guitarist, singer).
6. "I'd sell ma soul...for money to burn..with you." Choose the song.

Answer: Rebel Yell

This song, by Billy Idol, is probably my favourite of any song. On his "Greatest Hits" album there is a "live and acoustic" version of "Rebel Yell". I was amazed at how such an electric song could sound so amazing in an acoustic form. I just love it.
7. Name the song that this line is from: "I've got a molotov cocktail with a match to go."

Answer: Nightrain

Any Guns n' Roses fan will find that question a breeze, but I absolutely love the song, so I wanted to put it somewhere in the quiz.
8. There are no lyrics in the song "Wipe Out", by the Surfaris. (ie: the famous drum song from "Dirty Dancing").

Answer: False

At the start of the song there is a crazy laugh, followed, quite simply, by the words "Wipe Out" in a high-pitched voice. I love this song, largely because I play the drums, but also since it is just so catchy and fun.
9. Name the artist: "I remember the smell of your skin. I remember everythin'. I remember all your moves. I remember you, yeah."

Answer: Bryan Adams

This line is from "Please Forgive Me", on Bryan Adams' "So Far So Good" album. I've always thought it was a great ballad, despite the prejudice people often have against "soppy" songs. Although, don't get me wrong, some songs are just "soppy". This one is a brilliant song though.
10. Finish the line: "And it's an inside job To learn about forgiving It's an inside job To hang on to the ___________"

Answer: Joy of Living

This song, "Inside Job", by Don Henley, is one of my favourites. These are some of the last words in the song.
