Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which word provided a UK top ten hit for Pink in 2003, for Coldplay in 2000 and was the title of a song sung by Elvis Presley in "King Creole" (1958)?

Answer: Trouble

Three different kinds of trouble it would seem, as the Elvis Presley song from 1958 opens with, "If you're looking for trouble, You came to the right place", while Coldplay in 2000 opted for "Oh no, I see, A spider web is tangled up with me" and Pink went for "No attorneys, To plead my case, No opiates, To send me into outer space" for her 2003 hit.

Whatever the trouble is though, it brings success as both Coldplay and Pink had UK top ten hits, and although the Presley track was never released as a single, it remains one of his best known numbers, and was taken to number 14 in UK charts in 1980 by Gillan, the band of Deep Purple vocalist, Ian Gillan.
2. Jackson 5 had a Billboard Hot 100 number one in 1970 with this song that was covered in 1992, and also taken to number one by Mariah Carey and Trey Lorenz, while Emma Bunton took the same title but different song to number seven in UK charts in 2004.

Answer: I'll Be There

"I'll Be There" (1970) was the lead single from the third album from the Jackson 5, titled, "Third Album" and Mariah Carey released the track in 1992 as a duet between herself and Trey Lorenz, from her "MTV Unplugged" album, with many music critics praising her version, and "Entertainment Weekly" magazine even going so far as to say she had made the track "utterly her own.".

Former Spice Girl, Emma Bunton, released a different track with the same title in 2004 from her second solo studio album, "Free Me" (2004) and had her third consecutive UK top ten hit with the song, following on from "Free Me" and "Maybe" (both 2003), both from the same album as "I'll Be There".
3. DJ Mog & Sarah Lynn took this song title to number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart in 2010, while P.J. Proby, Phil Collins and Pet Shop Boys have all recorded the track with the same title from "West Side Story" (1957). What is it?

Answer: Somewhere

Northern Irish pair DJ Mog and Sarah Lynn had their track, "Somewhere" (2010) heavily championed by Judge Jules on his BBC Radio 1 show, and became an instant hit in American clubs, spending over four months in the Billboard Dance countdown as well as topping the chart.

In "West Side Story" (1957), "Somewhere" is sung in the second act, and Maria in the show also sings the opening lines as Tony dies in her arms at the end of the show. P.J. Proby took his version of the number to number six in UK charts in 1964, and although the Phil Collins version failed to chart, Pet Shop Boys also took the track to the top ten in UK, peaking at number nine in 1997.
4. Bobby Valentino's debut single from 2005 shared its name with a Billboard Dance chart number one from 2013 for Selena Gomez. Lionel Richie also advised in 1983, that it is something he can't do. What is it?

Answer: Slow Down

Bobby Valentino, aka Bobby V, certainly found success at his first try, as "Slow Down" (2005) peaked at number four on the UK charts and number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 in USA. Unfortunately, none of his subsequent releases, despite featuring the talents of artists such as Snoop Dogg, Timbaland and Lil Wayne, managed to match his initial success.

Selena Gomez may not have done as well with her "Slow Down" (2013) as it reached number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 in USA and failed to crack the top 100 in UK, but she has had several Billboard Hot 100 top ten hits including the number one, "Lose You to Love Me" (2019), as well as a handful of UK top ten hits.

Lionel Richie meanwhile had no intention of slowing down, when, in 1983 he released his second solo album, "Can't Slow Down", which spawned five top ten singles on America's Billboard Hot 100 and three top ten's in UK, including the track with everybody's favourite sentimental video, "Hello" (1984).
5. Number one on the Canadian country chart and the Billboard Country chart in USA for Ronnie Milsap in 1983, this song shares its title with a UK number one for Stiltskin in 1994. What is it?

Answer: Inside

Ronnie Milsap had a run of ten consecutive number ones on the Billboard Country chart in USA in the early 1980s, and "Inside" (1983) was the tenth of these. In fact, the 1980s were very kind to Milsap as he had a total of 23 number ones on that chart as well as 18 on the Canadian country chart.

Stiltskin were a rock band formed to record the Peter Lawlor penned "Inside" (1994) which had been selected for use in a Levi jeans commercial. Lawlor formed the band, did the advert, hit number one in the charts and then the band faded from public consciousness before disbanding in 1996.
6. A number one on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart in 2009 for Plumb shares its name with a 2011 single from Weezer, and is also what the McCoys asked Sloopy to do in 1965. What is it?

Answer: Hang On

"Hang On" was a massive dance hit for Indiana's Plumb, who have had many top 20 hits on the Billboard Christian charts, and could be heard in clubs everywhere.

Weezer's track, "Hang On", although described by "Rolling Stone" magazine as, "power ballad heaven", failed to make any real impression on the charts but remains a fan favourite at live shows.

The McCoys scored their biggest hit in 1965 with their debut single, "Hang On Sloopy" which went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in USA and was a top five hit in UK. The track was originally released as "My Girl Sloopy" by the Vibrations in 1964, who had a top ten hit with it on the Billboard R&B chart in USA.
7. The Zutons scored a UK top 40 hit with this title in 2004, while New Order took the same title but different song to number 12 in UK in 1983 and Electric Light Orchestra went as high as number eight in UK in 1979 with yet another song with the same title. What is it?

Answer: Confusion

"Confusion" (2004) from the Zuton's album of the same year, "Who Killed... The Zutons?" just scraped into the top 40 in UK, but it paved the way for the first two releases from their next album "Tired of Hanging Around" (2006), "Why Won't You Give Me Your Love?" and "Valerie" both of which hit the top ten.

"Confusion" (1983) was the title of New Order's follow up to "Blue Monday" (1983) and although it didn't quite perform as well chart wise as that track, it did still go top ten in Ireland, New Zealand and on the Billboard Dance charts in USA.

ELO managed the most successful "Confusion" though, when their 1979 double A side track, coupled with "Last Train to London" went to number eight in UK as well as hitting the top 20 in the charts in Germany, Ireland, Canada, South Africa and Austria among others.
8. The title of Akon's first solo number one in 2007 on the Billboard Hot 100 in USA can be prefaced by "It" to give song titles from Def Leppard, Loverboy and Donavon Frankenreiter. What was it?

Answer: Don't Matter

Akon first scored a number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2006 with "I Wanna Love You", which featured Snoop Dog, and he quickly followed that with his next release, "Don't Matter" which was Akon solo. "Don't Matter" also hit number one in Spain and New Zealand as well as going top five in Canada and UK.

"It Don't Matter" is a song title which can be found on Def Leppard's debut album from 1980, "On Through the Night", Loverboy's eponymous debut album from the same year and Donavon Frankenreiter's eponymous debut album from 2003.
9. Lady Gaga's was "perfect" in 2016, Joe Walsh had a "life of" it in 1981 and Guns N' Roses asked to "use your" in 1991. What was it?

Answer: Illusion

"Perfect Illusion" was the lead single from Lady Gaga's 2016 album, "Joanne" and found its most success in France where it topped the charts. Elsewhere it hit the top five in Italy, Scotland and Slovakia and the top 20 in Australia, Canada, UK and in USA on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Joe Walsh track, "A Life Of Illusion" (1981) wasn't as successful as earlier hits such as "Rocky Mountain Way" (1973) and "Life's Been Good" (1978) but did still enter the top 40 in both Canada and on the Billboard Hot 100 in USA.

Guns N' Roses released the albums "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" on the same day in 1991, and between them they featured the hit songs, "Live And Let Die" (1991), "You Could Be Mine" (1991) "November Rain" (1992) and "Civil War" (1993).
10. In which song by Little River Band can all of the previous answers be found as lyrics?

Answer: Help Is On Its Way

"Help Is On Its Way" was a huge hit for Little River Band, hitting number one in their native Australia as well as being their first top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in USA.
The lyrics in full to this great song are,

"Why are you in so much hurry
Is it really worth the worry
Look around
Then slow down

What's it like inside the bubble
Does your head ever give you trouble
It's no sin
Trade it in

Hang on, help is on its way
I'll be there as fast as I can
Hang on, a tiny voice did say
From somewhere deep inside the inner man

Are you always in confusion
Surrounded by illusion
Sort it out
You'll make out

Seem to make a good beginning
Someone else ends up winning
Don't seem fair
Don't you care

Hang on, help is on its way
I'll be there as fast as I can
Hang on, a tiny voice did say
From somewhere deep inside the inner man

Don't you forget who'll take care of you
It don't matter what you do
Form a duet, let him sing melody
You'll provide the harmony

Why are you in so much hurry
Is it really worth the worry
Look around
Then slow down

What's it like inside the bubble
Does your head ever give you trouble
It's no sin
Trade it in

Hang on, help is on its way
I'll be there as fast as I can
Hang on, a tiny voice did say
From somewhere deep inside the inner man

Hang on, help is on its way
I'll be there as fast as I can
Hang on, a tiny voice did say
From somewhere deep inside the inner man"
