Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the Beatles remarked of Beatlemania "It gave them an excuse to go mad, The world did, and then they blamed it on us"?

Answer: George Harrison

In a jovial and relaxed mood, George was interviewed on his estate in rural England. He also said "We were the sanest ones in the whole thing".
2. Which of the Beatles was not particularly impressed with their face to face meeting with Elvis?

Answer: Ringo Starr

The other Beatles thought the encounter was "great" although none expressed a lot of enthusiasm. Ringo thought he wasn't doing what he should have been doing.
3. Where did the terms "A Hard Day's Night" and "Tomorrow Never Knows" come from?

Answer: Some of Ringo's catchy phrases

John borrowed the latter title from Ringo in what he called a "throw away" title. Ringo was known for creating unusual phrases, a fact which had never been generally appreciated, as it has with Yogi Berra.
4. What is the significance of Anello and Davide?

Answer: The footwear shop which made the first custom Beatle boots.

The footwear shop which specialized in ballet and theatrical shoes, was erroneously attributed with making Dorothy's red slippers for "The Wizard of Oz".
5. Which is not an explanation for the development of the Beatles' characteristic hairstyle, according to the recollections of the three (at the time) surviving Beatles?

Answer: John had been unable to afford a haircut and had not greased it back one day, and the others approved.

It is interesting how different Beatles in the "Anthology" video had different recollections of how this significant transformation came about, but is only one example. How the name Beatles was chosen is another controversial event.
6. In the "Free as a Bird" video, George insisted a sitar should be included. What did Ringo want?

Answer: An elephant

The video's produced regrets not granting George his request to play the ukelele performer at the end of the video, as George had a long association with the instrument and actually played the ukelele in the recording.
7. How did the Beatles deal with the absence of John when recording "Free as a Bird"?

Answer: Pretended he was just around the corner while they were doing their respective tracks.

This was possible because the recordings of the Beatles were frequently done as solo tracks which were later assembled, with the Beatles in the studio at different times, or recording simultaneously in different studios in the same recording facility.

This began when the Beatles stopped touring, and only near the end of the band were attempts made to record together as live performers in the studio, with complete takes of the songs.
8. During the Beatles recording sessions, what did the Beatles say happened when Billy Preston or Eric Clapton joined them in their recording sessions?

Answer: The Beatles treated each other better.

The Beatles were not far from breaking up, and their personal stresses spilled over into the studio since "we were all we had". The presence of recording guests in the studio kept them on their best behavior, an observation the Beatles and George Martin shared.
9. Which of the Beatles attempted to leave the group by announcing he was going on holiday in the midst of a recording session, feeling he was an outsider?

Answer: Ringo

All the other Beatles, when confronted by Ringo, felt they themselves were the outsider. To bring him back, John sent him a telegram telling him he was the best rock drummer in the world, and George had the recording studio decked out in flowers at Ringo's return.
10. Concerning the breakup of the Beatles, who said "the fans gave their money and gave their screams, but the Beatles gave their nervous systems"?

Answer: George

George also said that the Beatles gave them an excuse to go mad, and that they were the sane ones.
