In 1970-71, they released two hits that hit the Top 10 in the United States. Their first single "Candida" peaked in at number three while their second hit "Knock Three Times" would become their first single to hit number one on the Billboard charts. These two hits were released under the name Dawn and released by Bell Records.

In 1973, they had two more Top 10 hits on the US Billboard charts with "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree" that peaked at the number one spot while "Say, Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose" peaked in at the number three spot. These tracks were released with Bell Records under the name Dawn Featuring Tony Orlando.

In 1974, under the name Tony Orlando and Dawn, they would release their final Top 10 hit signed with Bell Records. In 1975, they would sign on with Elektra Records and had one final Top 10 hit in the United States with "He Don't Love You (Like I Love You)" which charted at the number one spot on May 3, 1975.
3. The folk rock ballad "Day by Day" was released by Bell Records and was featured in what 1971 Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak musical?

Answer: Godspell

"Godspell" was a musical that ran mainly during the 1970s with productions in Pittsburgh, Melbourne, London, Washington DC, Toronto, and Maseru. It was later run as a Broadway performance in 1976 and again in 2011. As a musical, it was sang as various parables according to the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke.

In 1972, a version of "Day by Day" was released by a group simply named "Godspell" (a Broadway cast with lead singer Robin Lamont) peaked in at the number thirteen spot on the US Billboard charts.

While it never climbed higher than this, it was a popular track that remained in the Billboard Top 100 for a total of fourteen weeks.
4. While mainly with the record label Music World Creations, Canadian rock trio The Stampeders had one Top 10 US Billboard single in 1971 with Bell Records. What song was this?

Answer: Sweet City Woman

The Stampeders were a rock trio that hailed out of Alberta, Canada and achieved moderate success during the mid-1960s to mid-1970s. While they primarily were signed to and recorded music with Music World Creations (MWC) and The Marigold Label, they released "Sweet City Woman" under the Bell Record label attaining their only Top 10 hit on the US Billboard charts when it peaked at the number eight spot.

In Canada, the track peaked at the number one spot on the Canadian Singles, Canadian Adult Contemporary, and the Canadian Country music charts.
5. Which song became a one hit wonder for the short-lived bubblegum pop band Crazy Elephant in 1969?

Answer: Gimme Gimme Good Lovin'

Only active as a music group in 1969, Crazy Elephant's "Gimme Gimme Good Lovin'" peaked at the number twelve spot on both the US Billboard charts and the UK Singles charts. While there were four other singles released from their self-titled one and only album, none of them peaked any higher than the #106 spot on the US charts.

6. What song became a Top 10 hit for the first time in 1968 by Merrilee Rush & The Turnabouts and later became a Top 10 hit once again by Juice Newton in 1981?

Answer: Angel of the Morning

Initially the recording for "Angel of the Morning" was offered to Connie Francis, but was rejected due to the risque nature of the song. The first recording of the song was done by Evie Sands, but did not gain success on the music charts. In 1968, Merrilee Rush & The Turnabouts was released and peaked at the number one spot in Canada while it charted at number seven on the US Billboard charts.

Other versions of the song have been released by other popular musicians including Nina Simone, Dusty Springfield, Bonnie Tyler, and Skeeter Davis, but only the version by Juice Newton in 1981 saw any chart success.

This Newton of the song peaked at number four on the US Billboard charts and at number one in Canada released by Capitol Records.
7. Barry Manilow's first two albums in 1973 and 1974 were initially released by Bell Records and then re-released by Arista Records. What song originally charted in the United Kingdom for Scott English, but had greater success for Manilow in the United States after its title was changed to avoid confusion with a Looking Glass song?

Answer: Mandy

"Mandy" was originally released under the title "Brandy" in 1971 peaking at number twelve spot on the UK Singles charts by Scott English. In 1972, another version of "Brandy" by Bunny Walters peaked at the number four spot on the New Zealand Singles Chart in 1972. That same year, American pop group Looking Glass released their only US number one single "Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)" with Epic Records. Feeling that the song title was too similar to the Looking Glass track, it was decided that Barry Manilow would record the song by the title "Mandy".

The decision to change the name proved to be a success and Manilow's version went to number one spot in both Canada and the United States in 1974. This would be the first of three number one singles released by Manilow during the 1970s with "I Write the Songs" and "Looks Like We Made It" peaking at number one in 1975 and 1977 while signed with Arista Records.
8. What Canadian singer released "Seasons in the Sun" to become his only Top 10 hit in the United States?

Answer: Terry Jacks

Terry Jacks released three Top 10 singles on the Canadian Singles charts in the 1970s, but only one of these tracks managed to crack the Top 40 in the United States. In Australia, it fell short of the top spot peaking in at number two, while in Canada, it peaked at number three.
