It was Tommy Roe getting "Dizzy". It was his first UK chart hit since 1963 and his only UK number one. It reached number one on the US chart in 1969, it was his second and last US number one.

Cliff Richard had a UK number eight in 1969 with "Big Ship". It never charted in the US. Elvis Presley had a UK number two in 1969 with "Suspicious Minds". It went all the way to number one on the US chart. Dion had a US number 63 in 1969 with "Purple Haze". It never charted in the UK. He had a UK number 16 in 1976 with the re-release of "The Wanderer".

Robin Sarstedt had one UK chart hit with "My Resistance Is Low" which reached number three in 1976. It did not chart in the US. The Rolling Stones had a UK number one in 1969 with "Honky Tonk Woman". It was their eighth and last UK number one. It reached number one in the US, it was their fifth US number one. Sacha Distel who was a very popular french singer in the UK in the 60's and 70's, had one UK chart hit with "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" in 1970.

It was Marvin Gaye that sang "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" in 1969. It was his only UK number one and it reached number one on the US chart in 1968.

Engelbert Humperdinck had a UK number seven in 1969 with "Winter World Of Love". It reached number 16 on the US chart. Jim Reeves had a UK number 17 in 1969 with "When Two Worlds Collide" It never charted in the US. Des O'Connor had a UK number 14 in 1969 with "Dik-A-Dum-Dum (Kings Road)". I kid you not, that is what it was called. He never had any chart hits in the US and you are very lucky for that fact, believe me.
