In 1994 he suffered a stroke and fell into a coma, dying just one week later on 24th October 1994. He won a Golden Globe and an Emmy in 1995 for "The Burning Season", thus having the dubious honour of being the only man to win both these awards posthumously.

The 1980's TV series was of course "The A-Team" which ran for five seasons. George's most popular film was possibly "The Blue Max" (1966) in which he played an obsessively competitive German pilot. He was cast as Blake Carrington in "Dynasty" but three weeks into shooting, he argued with the producers about the character and was fired. John Forsythe replaced him and all his scenes were re-shot.

He died on 8th May 1994.

In his early years he worked as a gymnast in a circus until he was injured, and that is how he developed his well toned body. He had a high bar set up on the sets of all his films so he could stay in shape. He was the "Birdman of Alcatraz" (1961) in which he played the prisoner Robert Stroud.

He set up his own production company just two years after making his first film and the company went on to produce some famous films such as the Oscar winning "Marty". He died on 20th October 1994.

The fat detective was "Cannon". Conrad was given a lead falcon used in the film "The Maltese Falcon" by Jack L. Warner, head of Warner Bros. It had been damaged at the end of the movie. There were only two such lead falcons and it was auctioned nine months after Conrad's death on 11th February 1994 for $398,500.
