Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Find the match for Jacob. (Genesis 30:21)

Answer: Dinah

Dinah was the daughter of Jacob and Leah. Not much is known about Dinah apart from the fact she was sexually assaulted by Shechem, as per Genesis 34:1-31. According to Scripture two of her brothers went on a ruthless rampage, killing a large number of men to avenge her defilement.

After the horrific events of Genesis 34, Dinah is mentioned only one more time in Scripture. In Genesis 46:15, her name appears in a genealogy account, but there is no mention of her having a husband or children.
2. Find the match for Lamech. (Genesis 4:22)

Answer: Naamah

Naamah was the daughter of Lamech and Zillah and the sister of Tubal-Cain. Not much is known about Naamah as she is mentioned in passing reference in Genesis 4:22. The verse in the NKJV states: "And as for Zillah, she also bore Tubal-Cain, an instructor of every craftsman in bronze and iron. And the sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah."

Naamah is one of the first females mentioned by name in Scripture. The only ones who come before her are Eve, Adah and her mother Zillah.
3. Find the match for David. (2 Samuel 13:1-2)

Answer: Tamar

Tamar was the daughter of David and Maacah, as per 2 Samuel 3:3 and 2 Samuel 13:4. Amnon was so in love in with his half-sister Tamar that Scripture says he became ill, as per 2 Samuel 13:2. Amnon was the son of David and Ahinoam (1 Chronicles 3:1). Scripture tells of the sordid details of Amnon eventually raping Tamar, and her full brother Absalom ordering his men to kill Amnon some two years later.

There is a second Tamar in Scripture who was the daughter-in-law of Judah.
4. Find the match for Amram. (Numbers 26:59)

Answer: Miriam

Amram and his wife Jochebed, according to Numbers 26:59, were the parents of Miriam, as well as Aaron and Moses.

Not much is known about Amram as he is mentioned in passing reference. However, Miriam's name appears multiple times in Exodus and Numbers. Along with Moses and Aaron, she played a key role in leading the Israelites out of Egypt and into the Promised Land. In Exodus 15:20, she is described as a prophetess.
5. Find the match for Laban. (Genesis 29:16)

Answer: Leah and Rachel

Leah and Rachel were daughters of Laban. They are easily the best known sisters in the Old Testament, with Scripture stating they were both married to Jacob. Although Leah and Rachel were sisters, they were opposites in many ways. Leah was apparently plain looking while Rachel was extremely attractive, at least in the eyes of Jacob. As a result, Leah was involved in a loveless marriage while Rachel was the favorite of Jacob. Scripture also states Leah bore a number of children for Jacob at a time when Rachel was unable to conceive.

According to Genesis 35, Leah was the mother of six sons -- Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun -- as well as one daughter, Dinah. Meanwhile, the same chapter reports Rachel was the mother of two sons, Joseph and Benjamin.
6. Find the match for Eliam. (2 Samuel 11:3)

Answer: Bathsheba

According to 2 Samuel 11:3, Eliam was the father of Bathsheba, David's most famous wife. However, little is known about Eliam as his mentioned in passing reference.

It's a different matter when it comes to Eliam's daughter Bathsheba, as her name appears multiple times in Scripture. She is best remembered for having an adulterous affair with David while her husband Uriah, a soldier, was off in battle.

In addition to being beautiful, it's apparent Bathsheba knew how to be a powerbroker. It was largely because of her intervention that Solomon became king, beating out his half brother Adonijah, the son of Haggith. Batsheba's intervention, with the help of Nathan the prophet, is told in the first chapter of 1 Kings. With Solomon as king, Bathsheba would become the most powerful woman in the land.
7. Find the match for Terah. (Genesis 20:12)

Answer: Possibly Sarai or Sarah

Sarah, originally known as Sarai, is regarded by many as the daughter of Terah as, in Genesis 20:12, Abram describes her as his half sister. (Later, Abram would become known as Abraham.) Genesis 11:27 states Terah was the father of Abram. Others dispute the fact, saying it's not absolutely certain who Sarah's father was.
8. Find the match for Bethuel. (Genesis 24:15)

Answer: Rebecca

According to Genesis 24:15, Bethuel was the father of Rebekah. The same verse states Bethuel was the son Nahor and Milcah. Rebekah, of course, would marry Isaac and give birth to Jacob and Esau. Genesis 26:20 states Rebekah lived in Padan Aram.

Wikipedia states Bethuel was also a town in the territory of the tribe of Simeon, west of the Dead Sea.
9. Find the match for Ethbaal. (1 Kings 16:31)

Answer: Jezebel

According to 1 Kings 16:31, Ethbaal, king of Sidon, was the father of Jezebel, generally regarded as the most wicked woman in the Bible because of her persecution of the prophets of God, convincing many in Israel to serve Baal. 1 Kings 16:30-31 in in the NKJV states: "Now Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD, more than all who were before him. And it came to pass, as though it had been a trivial thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took as wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Sidonians; and he went and served Baal and worshiped him."
10. Find the match for Job. (Job 42:14)

Answer: Keren-Happuch

According to Job 42:14-15, Job, in his later life, was the father of three beautiful daughters, Jemimah, Keziah and Keren-Happuch.

Job 1:4 also tells of Job having three unnamed daughters who were killed when "suddenly a great wind came from across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people," killing them along with their seven brothers.

Job 42:12-17, in the NKJV tells of a happy ending to Job's life: "Now the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys. He also had seven sons and three daughters. And he called the name of the first Jemimah, the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch. In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers. After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations. So Job died, old and full of days."
