Muhammad, the most common name in the world, all derived from this man who plays an important role in Islam. Islam means "submission to the will of God." In 2007, Islam was the religion of about 1.5 billion Muslims (followers of Islam) around the world, which makes it the second largest religion is the world. Islam states there is only One Supreme God, or "Allah" in Arabic, and all people must obey God.

Ali, also the son-in-law and cousin of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), created much conflict when he took the position of caliphate following the murder of Uthman. The Shi'a branch of Islam, which make about 15% of all Muslims, believes descendants of Ali and Fatima (daughter of the Prophet Muhammad) are the true source of guidance.

The Sunni branch believes Ali is the last of the Rightly Guided Caliph, because they are models of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), since they were personally guided by him.

It is believed that Fatima Zahra was born around the time of the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) revelation of the Qu'ran. She suffered alongside her father through the abuse of the unbelievers in Mecca. Some sources reveal when the wicked people of Mecca would throw dirt and dust on top of the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) head while he was praying, she would bravely stand up to them, wipe off the dirt, and stay with her father until she was done.

She craved her father's approval, and held a close relationship with him throughout her life, even when she married Ali.

She died only a few months after the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) died around 610 C.E.

Surahs are like chapters of the Qu'ran. Surah An-Nas, or "Mankind" , is the last of 114 surahs. It reads:
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
The King of mankind,
The god of mankind,
From the evil of the sneaking whisperer,
Who whispereth in the hearts of mankind,
Of the jinn and of mankind.
Surah An-Nas, and the surah before it are collectively known as the mu'awwidhatayn, which means "the surahs of refuge." They are usually read over the sick.

Muslims also partake in a day of contemplation of their lives at Mount Arafat and stone large walls representing the wicked devil. The five daily prayers were first made obligatory on all Muslims after Isra and Miraj, or night journey and ascension to heaven. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was taken from his home in Mecca to Jerusalem in one night, and was taken up to the heavens. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) met with the prophets before him and was also told to tell his followers to pray five times a day.

Not much is known about this Mother of Believers when compared to some of the others. What is known is that she married the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) at the age of 36 when he accepted her marriage proposal. She only lived with him for four years, until his death around 610 C.E. Her half-sister, Zaynab bint Khuzayma, was also a wife of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
