Arachnophobia comes from the Greek words, "arachne" which means spider and "phobos" which means fear. This fear does not include only spiders but other arachnids as well, like the scorpion.
Ornithophobia is fear of birds. Gynophobia is fear of women. And spiderophobia, is obviously an invented word of mine.

Nyctophobia is the extreme fear of dark.This comes from the Greek word "νυξ" which means "night" and "phobos" which means "fear". Also known as achluophobia, scotophobia and lygophobia.
Trypophobia is the fear of holes. Acrophobia is fear of heights. And Xenophobia is fear of strangers.

Answer: dentophobia

Dentophobia or odontophobia is the fear not only of dentists but also of receiving dental care. This fear may be caused by the previous dental experiences of a person.
Coulrophobia is fear of clowns. Papaphobia is fear of the pope. And Androphobia is fear of men.
5. What is the name given to the fear of lightning and thunder?

Answer: astraphobia

Astraphobia comes from the Greek word "astrae" which means lightning and "phobos" which means "fear".
Ailurophobia is the fear of cats. Agyrophobia is the fear of crossing the fear. And Ablutophobia is the fear of bathing, washing or cleansing.
6. Some people have fears about a certain number. Which of the following is the fear of the number four?

Answer: tetraphobia

Tetraphobia comes from the Greek word "tetra" meaning four. This kind of phobia is very common in Asia especially in China and other Southeast Asian countries. This is because the way they pronounce the word for "death" is quite similar to the number four. On the other hand, treskaidekaphobia is fear of number 13.
Quadriphobia and Squariphobia are just words that I invented.
7. Which of the following is a fear of a type of animal?

Answer: ichthyophobia

Ichthyophobia is the fear of fish. This word comes from the Greek word "ichtus" which means fish and "phobos" which means "fear". This may refer to the fear of seeing dead fish or even eating fish.
Algophobia is the fear of pain. Agraphobia is the fear of sexual abuse. And Trypophobia is the fear of holes.
8. Which of the following phobias differs from the other?

Answer: gelotophobia

Gelotophobia is the fear of being laughed at. From the Greek word "geloto" which means laughter and "phobos" meaning fear. The other three are all types of phobia of a certain type of animal.
Bovinophobia is the fear of cattle. Selachophobia is the fear of sharks. And Apiphobia is the fear of bees.
9. Which of the following is the fear of the color yellow?

Answer: xanthophobia

Oddly, this fear includes fear of the sun, daffodils, yellow paint or even the Yellow Pages. From the Greek word "xanthos" meaning "yellow" and "phobos" meaning "fear".
Xylophobia is the fear of trees, forest or woods. Trypophobia is the fear of holes. And Yellowphobia is a word I invented.
10. In 1982, Charles M. Schulz in his "Peanuts" comic strip introduced the word "arachibutyrophobia". What would this phobia mean?

Answer: fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth

This word was also used by Peter O'Donnell in his 1985 adventure novel "Dead Man's Handle". Fear of nothingness is nihilophobia and was introduced in the show "Star Trek: Voyager".
