The first game took place on August 18, 1915, after playing their home games previously at the South End Grounds.

The Braves defeated the Cardinals that day 8-1.

When the park opened, the right and left field walls were 402 feet from home plate. Ty Cobb paid a visit to the park when the Tigers came to Boston (to play the crosstown Red Sox) and made the statement "Nobody will ever hit a baseball out of this park".

It took 10 years (five of the live ball era) but on May 28, 1925, Frank Snyder of the New York Giants was the first person to hit a ball over the fence at Braves Field.

Answer: Jim Tobin

Tobin first no-hit the Brooklyn Dodgers 2-0 on April 27. Then, in the second game of a double-header, Tobin threw a five-inning 7-0 no-hitter against Philadelphia in a game called due to darkness. Baseball later changed the requirements for a no-hitter and the second no-hitter was no longer recognized by MLB.

While the Braves only played one World Series match-up at Braves Field (losing to Cleveland in six games in 1948), the Boston Red Sox actually played two World Series at Braves Field because it had a greater seating capacity than Fenway Park. The Red Sox played World Series match-ups at Braves Field in 1915 (Red Sox defeated Philadelphia in five games) and 1916 (Red Sox defeated Brooklyn in five games).

Waner, also known as Big Poison, collected his 3000th career hit on June 19, 1942, while as a member of the Braves. He actually collected the hit against his old teammates, the Pittsburgh Pirates. Pittsburgh won the game 7-6.
