Aaron definitely stepped up and did his part to help the struggling Sox line up in 2004. He ended the season with a .310 batting average and hit 24 home runs, compared to his 2003 season where he only hit seven home runs. Quite an improvement.
3. This outfielder tied the franchise record with 28 consecutive games with a hit. He ended the year with a .305 average and 31 home runs. His number was 45. Who was this player?

Answer: Carl Everett

Along with Roberto Alomar, Carl Everett was traded to the White Sox just before the deadline two seasons in a row. Both made significant contributions to the team after the trades. Everett batted .260 in 2004 and hit seven home runs, including one on his first day back in White Sox uniform.
5. This player was one of two key injured players that led to the Sox eventual downfall in the AL central. He was the primary designated hitter or first baseman, and had been with the team longer than any 2004 player. Who was he?

Answer: Frank Thomas

Frank Thomas went down with a broken foot midseason. He was on track for a great season before going down with the injury. He had been the marquee player for the Sox since he joined the team in 1990.
6. He was the second of the two key players to go out due to injury in 2004. He suffered a season ending knee injury about midway through. This slugger generally played right field and had been a fan favorite since joining the team in 1997. Whom am I talking about?

Answer: Magglio Ordonez

Losing Magglio was a huge loss to the Sox roster in 2004, and coupled with the loss of Frank Thomas was something the team never recovered from.

Answer: Joe Borchard

Joe struggled (.174 average with seven home runs and 20 RBI's) after he was recalled to replace Magglio in right field. Yet as that home run shows, he can show glimpses of greatness. I suppose only time will tell what Joe Borchard makes of his time with the White Sox.

Freddy was a dominant pitcher for the Mariners for years when they had a better team. Receiving little to no run support, he came to the Sox with an 8-5 record. After taking up with the Sox, he ended his season with a 13-11 record and a 3.81 ERA.
9. This left handed pitcher had 14 or more wins for the Sox in the previous four seasons. Early in the season he was a possible all-star candidate, but lost out to a fellow teamate. Who was he?
