Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which year was East Fife Football Club formed?

Answer: 1903

East Fife were formed in 1903, slightly later than most of their contempories in the Scottish Football League, most of whom were founded in the late 19th century.
2. In which town is East Fife based?

Answer: Methil

East Fife play in Methil, in the eastern part of the county of Fife.
3. After 95 years playing their home games at Bayview Park, East Fife moved into a new stadium in 1998. What was the name of this new stadium?

Answer: Bayview Stadium

They simply swapped the "Park" part of the name to "Stadium". At least you can see Largo Bay from the new ground, unlike the old ground which was surrounded by buildings.
4. What colours do East Fife play in?

Answer: black and gold

Although the design on the club's shirts may have been altered a few times over the years, East Fife were synonymous with the colours black and gold, normally in the shape of vertical stripes.
5. In 1938, East Fife created history, by becoming the first team from outside the top division of the Scottish League to win the Scottish FA Cup. Who did they defeat in the final?

Answer: Kilmarnock

East Fife defeated Kilmarnock 4-2 in a replay at Hampden Park after the first game ended in a 1-1 draw.
6. In the decade after the end of the second world war, East Fife were regular contenders near the top of the First Division of the Scottish League. During this time, they won the Scottish League Cup three times. Which was the only of the following teams that they did *not* defeat in the final of this tournament between 1947-48 and 1953-54?

Answer: Hibernian

East Fife defeated Falkirk 4-1 after a replay in 1947-48; Dunfermline 3-0 in 1949-50; and Partick Thistle 3-2 in 1953-54.
7. The largest crowd to attend an East Fife home game was 22,515 in January 1950. Who were their opponents?

Answer: Raith Rovers

The New Year "derby" against local rivals Raith on 2nd January 1950, saw Bayview Park packed to the rafters. With Bayview Stadium (new home ground from 1998) having a capacity of just 2,000, it's unlikely this record will be broken in the forseeable future.
8. Which player was the first to make more than 500 league appearances for East Fife?

Answer: Dave Clarke

Clarke made 517 league appearances for East Fife between 1968 and 1987 (629 appearances in all competitions). He also had two spells as club manager (1978-1987 and 2001-2002).
9. East Fife's record victory, set in 1937, was 13-2 against which Edinburgh club?

Answer: Edinburgh City

East Fife won 13-2 on 11th December 1937. Edinburgh City conceded 135 goals in 34 games that season; such defeats were a common experience for them at the time.
10. Which two players share the record for most league goals scored in a single season for East Fife?

Answer: Jock Wood and Henry Morris

Wood scored 41 league goals in 1926-27, with Morris duplicating this feat in 1947-48.
