The Bull hit 223 of his 307 Major League home runs as a member of the Phillies.

Oklahoma native Johnny Callison was a left-handed batting outfielder who played with the Phillies from 1960 to 1969. Callison's finest moment in big league baseball occurred during the 1964 All-Star Game, held at Shea Stadium in Flushing, New York. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Callison belted a three-run home run off Boston's Dick Radatz to give the National League a 7-4 victory over the American League. Ashburn played 12 seasons for the Phillies, collecting over 2200 hits for the club. Ashburn was a fleet-footed outfielder who stole nearly 200 bases while playing for the Phils. Whitey retired after the 1962 season and then launched a long and successful TV/radio broadcasting career with the Phillies.

In 1971, legendary sportscaster Harry Kalas teamed up with Ashburn to form an extremely entertaining broadcast duo until Ashburn's death in 1997. Ashburn had already been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995.
