The city of Kingston-upon-Hull (to give it its full name) has been a rugby league stronghold for many years, and football (soccer) enthusiasts had a tough time competing with it, but eventually succeeded in 1904 when Hull City were formed.
The local rugby league teams are: Hull FC and Hull Kingston Rovers.
2. Hull City ground shared with rugby and cricket teams for many years before finally acquiring their own stadium in 1946. What was the name of this ground, that they called home until 2002?

Answer: Boothferry Park

Boothferry Park was opened with a game against Lincoln City in August, 1946. A record crowd of 55,019 crammed into the ground in February, 1949, for an F.A Cup quarter final tie against Manchester United. By the time the club played their final home match there, against Darlington in December, 2002, the capacity was a much more modest 15,160.
3. What colour shirts have Hull City worn throughout virtually their entire history?

Apart from a couple of brief flirtations with blue shirts, Hull City have always worn black and amber as their first choice colours. Although shirt designs tend to change from season to season, the most common Hull shirt is one of vertical stripes.

Chris Chilton was born a few miles from Hull in 1943, and played the majority of his career with his local club. Between 1960 and 1971, he scored 222 goals in all competitions, including 193 in 415 league appearances. He left the club for Coventry City in 1971, where his career was ended by injury shortly afterwards.

Hull City are nicknamed the Tigers and that animal also appears on the club badge. There was controversy in 2013 when the club's Egyptian owner tried to change the club's official name from Hull City to Hull Tigers, much to the displeasure of the team's fans. On January 14th, 1939, Hull City entertained Carlisle United in a Third Division (North) match, and hammered them 11-1. The goals were spread throughout the team, with six different players on the scoresheet. This match was one of a number of heavy defeats that Carlisle suffered that season, with 111 goals being conceded in their 42 league games.

Theo Whitmore was born in Jamaica in 1972, and spent three years with Hull City between 1999 and 2002, making 77 league appearances. He won 28 caps for his country during his spell at Hull, out of a career total of 120 appearances for his country.

After defeating Watford home and away in the semi-final, Hull met Bristol City in the final at Wembley. In front of 86,703 fans, Dean Windass scored the game's only goal to give City a place at English football's top tier for the first time, the FA Premier League.
10. Hull City reached the F.A. Cup final for the first time in their history in 2014, where they saw an early 2-0 lead wiped out by which team?

Answer: Arsenal

Hull City defeated Sheffield United 5-3 in the semi-finals to reach their first-ever F.A. Cup final. They were massive underdogs against Arsene Wenger's Arsenal, but got off to a dream start, with goals by James Chester and Curtis Davies putting them 2-0 up after just eight minutes. Of course, that gave Arsenal plenty of time to come back, and they did just that, with Santi Cazorla and Laurent Koscielny scoring to take the game into extra time. Aaron Ramsey scored the only goal in the extra period to take the cup back to north London.
