The Jack Adams is given to the NHL coach who is best attributed to the success of their team. The coach is elected by the NHL Broadcaters Association. The award is named after former Red Wings Coach, Jack Adams.

Answer: Bill Barber

Barber won the award behind the bench of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2001-02 season. Despite being a long-time player with the organization, a member of their two-time Stanley Cup winning team in the 70's, and a member of the hockey hall of fame, Barber was fired by former teammate and G.M. Bob Clarke, due to complaints from players.

Bowman started his career with St. Louis from 1968 to 1970. In 1971, Bowman became coach of the Montreal Canadians, winning 5 Stanley Cups. From 1981 to 1987, he was behind the Buffalo Sabres bench. After a brief retirement, he returned as a player-director in Pittsburgh in 1991.

In 1992, he became coach, and guided them to a 2nd Stanley Cup. From 1993 until 2002, Bowman was head coach of the Detroit Red Wings and won three Cups for the MotorCity.

MacTavish took over the head coaching position of the Edmonton Oilers, in June of 2000 after former teammate Kevin Lowe, became G.M. of the Oilers. MacTavish won 4 Stanley Cups with the Oiler dynasty of the 80's. He was also a member of the Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins.

Burns began his coaching career in 1988 with the Montreal Canadians. He remained in Montreal until 1992 when he moved onto Toronto. In 1997, he left the Maple Leafs to coach the Bruins, until he was released after the 2000 season. Mike Milbury was behind the bench when the Bruins went to the finals in 1990.

Crawford won the Jack Adams, after his first year behind the bench for the Colorado Avalanche. The following season, Colorado won the Stanley Cup. In 1999, he returned to the Vancouver Canucks as head coach. Crawford played for the Canucks organization from 1981-1987.

During his 12 year playing career in the NHL, Joey Quenville was a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Rockies, Hartford Whalers, NJ Devils, and Washington Capitals. In 1994, he became an assitant coach for the Colorado Avalanche. In 1997-98, he took over the head coaching position for the St. Louis Blues.

Former player Terry Crisp(1967-1977) coached the Calgary Flames to their first Stanley Cup victory in 1989. From 1992 to 1997, Crisp coached the NHL expansion team, the Tampa Bay Lightning. A gritty center iceman, Crisp was best known for his work with the Philadelphia Flyers, a team for which he won two Stanley Cups with(1974 and 1975).

Keenan took over the head-coaching job in the Windy City in 1989, turning the Hawks into a hardworking powerhouse, with such players as Chris Chelios, Ed Belfour, and Jeremy Roenick. After a disappointing loss to Pittsburgh in the Stanley Cup finals in 1992, Keenan turned over the bench to Darryl Sutter and became G.M. During the 1992-93 season, Keenan left Chicago to go behind the bench for the Rangers.

He won a Stanley Cup in NY in 1994.

After his retirement from the Red Wings in 1998, Fetisov became an assitant coach to Larry Robinson, in the New Jersey Devils organization in 2000. Fetisov began his career in NJ in 1989. He was traded to Detroit during the 1994-95 season, and went on to win his first two Stanley Cups there in 1997 and 1998.
