The draft rights to his younger brother Marc Gasol were among the pieces sent to Memphis in the deal.
4. Both teams in the 2005 National Basketball Association finals had made mid-season trades to help them get ahead. The champions brought in Nazr Mohammed while the team that lost brought in Carlos Arroyo. Which team lost the series?

Answer: Detroit Pistons

The Pistons were the defending champs, having defeated the Lakers in five games the season before.

The Spurs sent Malik Rose to New York in exchange for Mohammed, who came in and started the rest of the season at center for the squad.

San Antonio won the series in seven games. A year later Mohammed left San Antonio and signed on with Detroit.
5. Jose Canseco, a former member of the "Bash Brothers," was traded after the Major League Baseball trade deadline in 2000, which resulted in needing to clear waivers. Did he clear waivers and end up with the Blue Jays?

Answer: no

The New York Yankees, who already had several players at his position, claimed the aging slugger to stop the division rival Blue Jays from getting him.

Canseco was barely used the rest of the season, but did appear in one World Series game, garnering a championship ring when the Yankees won it all.

He retired two years later with 462 career home runs. In 1988 he was the first player in MLB history to hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in the same season.

Answer: Nomar Garciaparra

Garciaparra was a fan favorite and a perennial all-star before he was shipped off to the Cubs in a four-team swap.

At the time it was thought to be the best move for him, heading off to the playoff bound Chicago squad.

Boston rebounded and made the playoffs, then swept the Cardinals for the World Series title. The Cubs went into a slump and missed the playoffs.
7. BASEBALL: Two-time home run champion Cecil Fielder was shipped from Detroit to New York at the trading deadline during which Yankees championship run?

Answer: 1996

The Yankees won their first championship since the 1950's and kicked off a span in which they won four titles in five seasons in part due to the trade for Fielder.

After the trade Fielder belted 13 home runs in just 53 games to close out the season, then he hit three more in the playoffs while leading the team to the title.

His career took a sharp downturn after the championship and he was out of baseball by the end of the 1998 season.
8. The National Hockey League's Detroit Red Wings acquired defenseman Brad Stuart prior to winning what championship trophy in 2008?

Answer: Stanley Cup
