Answer: Three

Thomas drove car numbers 92 (owned by himself), 6 (Marshall Teague), 99 (Leonard Tippett) and 2 (Hubert Westmoreland) for three different car manufacturers.

His own car and the 6 were both Plymouths, the 99 was a Hudson and the 2 was an Oldsmobile.

Thomas won another NASCAR season championship in 1953.
2. LeGarrette Blount was outrightly released by what team in 2014, that allowed him to join the eventual National Football League champion New England Patriots?

He played just 11 games in Pittsburgh and rushed for only 266 yards. In five games with the Patriots he had 281 yards rushing, plus another 189 yards in three playoff games.
3. During the 2008-09 season the Lakers and the Grizzlies swapped Gasol brothers. The Lakers went on to win the championship. What sport was this?

Answer: Basketball

The draft rights to his younger brother Marc Gasol were among the pieces sent to Memphis in the deal.
4. Both teams in the 2005 National Basketball Association finals had made mid-season trades to help them get ahead. The champions brought in Nazr Mohammed while the team that lost brought in Carlos Arroyo. Which team lost the series?

Answer: Detroit Pistons

The Pistons were the defending champs, having defeated the Lakers in five games the season before.

The Spurs sent Malik Rose to New York in exchange for Mohammed, who came in and started the rest of the season at center for the squad.

San Antonio won the series in seven games. A year later Mohammed left San Antonio and signed on with Detroit.
5. Jose Canseco, a former member of the "Bash Brothers," was traded after the Major League Baseball trade deadline in 2000, which resulted in needing to clear waivers. Did he clear waivers and end up with the Blue Jays?

Answer: no

The New York Yankees, who already had several players at his position, claimed the aging slugger to stop the division rival Blue Jays from getting him.

Canseco was barely used the rest of the season, but did appear in one World Series game, garnering a championship ring when the Yankees won it all.

He retired two years later with 462 career home runs. In 1988 he was the first player in MLB history to hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in the same season.
6. The Boston Red Sox hadn't won a World Series title since 1918, so trading away an all-star seemed an odd move in 2004. The baseball team acquired defensive stalwarts Doug Mientkiewicz and Orlando Cabrera in exchange for what short stop?

Answer: Nomar Garciaparra

Garciaparra was a fan favorite and a perennial all-star before he was shipped off to the Cubs in a four-team swap.

At the time it was thought to be the best move for him, heading off to the playoff bound Chicago squad.

Boston rebounded and made the playoffs, then swept the Cardinals for the World Series title. The Cubs went into a slump and missed the playoffs.
7. BASEBALL: Two-time home run champion Cecil Fielder was shipped from Detroit to New York at the trading deadline during which Yankees championship run?

Answer: 1996

The Yankees won their first championship since the 1950's and kicked off a span in which they won four titles in five seasons in part due to the trade for Fielder.

After the trade Fielder belted 13 home runs in just 53 games to close out the season, then he hit three more in the playoffs while leading the team to the title.

His career took a sharp downturn after the championship and he was out of baseball by the end of the 1998 season.
8. The National Hockey League's Detroit Red Wings acquired defenseman Brad Stuart prior to winning what championship trophy in 2008?

Answer: Stanley Cup

The Stanley Cup was first awarded in 1893 when Lord Frederick Arthur Stanley donated the trophy to what was then Canada's top amateur team.

Starting in 1909 professional teams competed with the amateurs for the cup. Starting in 1926 the cup was awarded to the National Hockey League's champion every year.
9. In a unique deal futbol (soccer) star David Beckham was traded back and forth between European club AC Milan and the Major League Soccer team L.A. Galaxy. Did he win a championship with either team he split the 2011 season with?

Answer: Yes
