The Chicago White Sox franchise began in 1901, and what a year as they won the American League under player-manager Clark Griffith. They beat the runner-up Red Sox by 4 games. The White Sox were led by Dummy Hoy and Roy Patterson.
2. For 80 years, the White Sox played their home games in what ballpark?

Answer: Comiskey Park

Named after Charles Comiskey, the White Sox played there from 1911-1990 before playing at Comiskey Park II. Southside Park is where the franchise began playing their games in 1901.

Answer: 1906

In 1906, the White Sox won it all by defeating crosstown rival Chicago Cubs 4 games to 2. Managed by Fielder Jones, the White Sox had a balanced ballclub with no stars. Not one starter hit over .280 in the season. 1917 would see the ballclub win their last World Series of the 20th century.

Fox beat out fellow teammate Luis Aparicio for the MVP by 40 points. Fox had consistent numbers across the board along with a .306 batting average. He also received a Gold Glove that season. The White Sox went on to the World Series, only to be defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Answer: Bobby Thigpen

Thigpen tossed 57 for the White Sox in 1990. All his career 201 saves, came in a White Sox uniform after playing 8 seasons with the team.
