Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the following was not a description of Radical Edward, as told to Jet by various informants in "Jamming With Edward"?

Answer: a redhead

Although Radical Edward had a widespread reputation, few knew her and most of the people relating the rumors about Edward thought she was a male.
2. What was the name of Ed's homemade computer?

Answer: Tomato

Victoria is the name of a MacinTalk Voice for Macintosh computers. Big Red is a pun on the chess-playing IBM computer Big Blue.

Although Ed never called her computer by its name, it was written on the side of its cardboard box in both English and katakana.
3. What was the radio forecast for District 39 on the day Ed learned that the Bebop was coming to Earth?

Answer: chance of rock showers: 10%

After an incoming rock nearly blew Ed off the face of the planet, the chance of rock showers was upgraded to 90%.

Rock showers were a common occurrence on Earth because of the Earth Gate explosion in 2021, which blasted away half of the moon and forced most of Earth's survivors to live underground or to migrate to space.

Grey Ash was the plant used to treat Venus Sickness in the episode, "Waltz for Venus".
4. What was Ed's parting gift to Spike?

Answer: a pinwheel

Her final message to the crew was her signature smiley face chalked on the floor, along with the words, "Bye bye!"

A common child's toy, pinwheels can be found all along the path to the summit of Mt. Osore-zan in Japan, placed by parents coming to pray for the souls of departed children.
5. When she was five, how was Ed separated from her father?

Answer: He forgot that he put her in daycare

Her father was an absentminded roving cartographer named Appledelhi Siniz Hesap Lütfen. Not only did it take him seven years to remember where he'd left her, but he had also forgotten whether she was a boy or a girl!
6. How did Ed transport her computer?

Answer: on her head

She also wore the satellite dish link-up as a fanny pack.
7. How long did Ed play a single chess game with Chessmaster Hex in "Bohemian Rhapsody"?

Answer: 7 days

And after all that, she still lost the game. The two originally began playing over the internet after Ed initiated the virtual game with a data-chipped chess piece confiscated from a Gate tollbooth hacker. They never met face to face, but based on her unorthodox moves, Hex thought Ed was "either an idiot or a genius".
8. What was Edward's "Lesson-Lesson" in the episode "Toys in the Attic"?

Answer: If you see a stranger, follow him!

Ed exclaimed, "High socks are cool!" in "Mushroom Samba", just before abandoning them to go barefoot again. She sang the "Exploration" ditty while searching for the "horrible alien" in "Toys in the Attic". "Survival of the fittest" was part of Faye's rationale for her lesson that nothing good comes from trusting others. According to Spike, the real Lesson was, "Don't leave things in the fridge".
9. What was Ed's full name for herself?

Answer: Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky 4th

In the opening credits, for some reason she's on the crew list in the backgrounds as Edward Wong Hwe Pepelu Cybulski 4th. On the other hand, her father just called her Françoise.
10. In the episode "Brain Scratch", what name did Ed use to log onto the SCRATCH website for Jet?

Answer: Marshall Banana

Radical Edward was the name by which other hackers knew Ed on the net. Gina Szanboti was the log-in name that Ein the data dog used to begin hacking the SCRATCH site (to Ed's astonishment and delight). Gus Szamboti and Ginacue are just two of the numerous pool cue designers whose names can be found on computer screens throughout the series and movie.
