Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is Miles' favourite team?

Answer: Bluesox

Miles is a loudmouth baseball fan, and the apprentice to Doohan, the man who built and repairs Spike's fighter craft, the Swordfish II. Originally the Swordfish was a mono-racer, but has received many upgrades. Miles eventually aids Doohan in building, and later piloting the Columbia space shuttle.

2. Vicious saved Gren's life by killing what kind of animal?

Answer: scorpion

Gren and Vicious fought for the same unit on the deserts of Titan. Gren felt that they had shared comradery, but Vicious later betrayed him by planting a transmitter on him and testifying that he was a spy.
During a flashback sequence, after giving Gren a "present", Vicious grabs his head and jams a bowie knife right by his ear, at a scorpion climbing along the rock wall against which they were both leaning.
[Session #13: "Jupiter Jazz, Part II"]
3. How many hoodlums does Jet catch with his net-gun, as they are riding up an escalator?

Answer: 4

The bebop crew are looking for the perpetrator of several hacks into Hyperspace Gates around the solar system, used to steal money right out of the gates' credit computers. They catch a lot of criminals, but none seem to be anywhere close to masterminding the affair. Turns out the scheme originates from a genius ex-engineer for the Gate company, who was fired from his job 50 years ago!
[Session #14: "Bohemian Rhapsody"]
4. What did Spike forget in the refrigerator?

Answer: Lobster

He got the lobster and stashed it in a hidden fridge in the engine room, so that none of the others (Faye) would take and eat it. He left it there for a year, and, well, with bad results.
This episode is the only time we see Spike truly afraid. And for a good reason.
[Session #11: "Toys in the Attic"]
5. How much did Faye's cryofreezing operation cost, originally?

Answer: 30,000,000 wulong

Poor faye was frozen for 54 years. She was a victim in a gate accident, supposedly the same accident that blew off a huge chunk of the moon and pretty much devastated the surface of the Earth. After lying in cryofreeze for so long, she is awoken from slumber only to find a huge debt on her head, and worse, to meet people who take advantage of her confusion and dump their own debts on her head as well.
[Session #15: "My Funny Valentine"]
6. Jet's old pocket watch stopped. What number is the small hand pointing at?

Answer: 15

He used to live on Ganymede with his girlfriend (wife?) Elisa. One day she left him without notice, because he was overprotective, and she wanted a life of excitement where she could be free to make her own successes and her own mistakes. Jet vowed that he would keep waiting for her until the watch stopped. It stopped one day, at a quarter past 15 o'clock. Ganymede apparently has a longer day cycle than Earth.
[Session #10: "Ganymede Elegy"]
7. What television show from the 1990s is the proprietor at the Electronic Antiques shop watching?

Answer: Beverly Hills 90210

It's not exactly "90210", but the twins featured not only look like Brendon and Brenda from the series, but the names of the actors shown on the end credits closely resemble the names of the real actors who played those parts on the show!
[Session #18: "Speak like a Child"]
8. How much does a watermelon cost?

Answer: 1000 wulong

A high price to pay for what we consider a common fruit here on Earth. And apparently, some people are even willing to pay. Ed had to give up on the watermelons because she had no money. Later in the episode, we see the watermelons crashing off the back of the fruit truck and splitting on the desert sand. What a waste!
[Session #17: "Mushroom Samba"]
9. When Spike is questioning the junkyard worker, what does he say he'd rather have than a woman?

Answer: Armadillo

Spike is looking for his girl, Julia, on the planet Callisto. In the city where he's looking for her, Blue Crow, there are no women. Turns out later that Julia was in fact on Callisto, but a long time ago.
[Session #12: "Jupiter Jazz, Part I"]
10. How many times do we see Udai Taxim throw one of his specialty knives?

Answer: One

Trick question there - we see him pulling it out twice, but the first time he merely slashes another convict in the jugular. The other time, he throws the knife into Jet's thigh. Udai and Jet have a longstanding grudge, what with Jet believing it was Udai who shot him in the left arm, forcing Jet to install a biomechanical replacement limb. It later turns out that Udai was simply the bait. Someone else shot Jet's arm off...
