"American Idol" Season 6 Trivia Quiz

Answer: A.J. Tabaldo

A.J. Tabaldo is a five time contestant but season six was the only time that he made the top 24. After a poor first performance he did a really good job with his second performance and got a lot of favorable reviews from the judges. It was therefore a major upset when he got voted off before the top 12 especially considering the male contestants in season six were not as strong as past seasons. Paul Kim and Rudy Cardenas were voted off in the top 24 itself while Jared Cotter lasted until the top 16.

Answer: Antonella Barba

It was revealed that one of Antonella's supposed friends released some personal photos of her which included wet-tshirt photographs. These photos were addressed on a lot of major news shows and it really boosted her popularity on the show. However, the continuous bad singing got her voted off during the top 16 round of "American Idol" along with Sabrina Sloan.

Answer: Sabrina Sloan

The first week Nicole and Amy were eliminated and neither of them were top 12 quality anyways. Then Leslie and Alaina were eliminated who were outshined by the other women in the competition. The third week Sabrina and Antonella were eliminated. Antonella wasn't the best of singers and was in the competition on looks alone while Sabrina was definitely top 10 material and a lot of people were surprised that she was eliminated that early in the competition.

This was one of the many upsets that happened in season six of "American Idol".

Answer: Sundance

Sundance started with "Nights in White Satin" and, like many of the other male contestants, got poor reviews from the judges. He followed up with "Mustang Sally," got really rave reviews and was considered one of the better male singers in the competition.

His third performance - "Jeremy" was a strong performance but was missing the spark that "Mustang Sally" had and this led to him being voted off. A lot of people expected him to be in the top 6 guys especially considering his performances were better than Chris Richardon, Sanjaya Malakar and Brandon Rogers at this point. Nicholas Pedro was voted off in the top 20 and Jared Cotter was voted off along with Sundance during the top 16 round. Brandon got through to the top 12 despite weak performances and therefore was the first to be voted off there.

Answer: Stephanie Edwards

Stephanie Edwards had strong performances for four weeks in a row with a relatively weak performance on the fifth week. She was considered as one of the top singers along with Melinda, Lakisha and Jordin in the competition and was expected to go as high as the top 5 if she continued in the same trend.

The results were therefore suprising when she and Chris Richardson were named the bottom two and Stephanie was eventually voted off. Brandon Rogers was voted off during the top 11 for having all weak performances. Chris Sligh and Gina Glocksen (in that order) were voted off during the top 10 and top 9 respectively.

Answer: Gina Glocksen

Gina Glocksen had received pretty good comments on all the weeks except when she sang "Paint it Black". All the other nights she had atleast two judges giving her rave reviews. Many of the talk shows and other sources that predict the next to get voted off had either Haley or Sanjaya as their top choice to leave. Haley got voted off the very next week in the top 8 though she outlasted a lot of contestants who were better than her. Chris was voted off before Gina for his inability to sing at the correct tempo. Phil was voted off during the double elimination week after "Idol Gives Back".

Answer: Sanjaya Malakar

Sanjaya changed his hairstyle or facial hair (Latin night) every week to be remembered after every round so that he could go through to the next round. The most recognized hairstyle was the fauxhawk he had when he was singing "Bathwater" by No Doubt during the top 10.

His only decent performance was "Besame Mucho" on Latin Night where he was praised for singing the song in Spanish. There has been a lot of parody on Sanajaya's hairstyle like "The Soup" created a "Sanjaya hair salon" skit with different hairstyles that Sanjaya had on the show. Haley worked the legs instead of the voice but it was more out of desperation when her regular singing was outshone by many others. Jordin followed Sanjaya's example with the hair on Bon Jovi night and said she was picking up where Sanjaya left off. Phil was put there as a joke considering he is bald!

Answer: Lakisha Jones

Lakisha had three weak performances one after the other - "Conga", "Jesus, take the wheel" and "I believe". She made a comeback with "This Ain't a Love Song" by Bon Jovi and Simon commented on the fact that he would like to kiss her after that performance. The kiss that followed was good publicity for Lakisha as she was in danger of getting voted off at that point.

Answer: Melinda Doolittle

Melinda Doolittle did not have a single bad performance throughout the competition. She had received more rave reviews than any other contestant on the show and therefore was the favorite to win "American Idol" season six. It was therefore surprising that she got eliminated during the top 3 while the less versatile Blake Lewis managed to get through to the final round.

A clash between Jordin Sparks and Melinda Doolittle in the finals would have been a historic clash and the closest competition in six seasons of "American Idol".

Answer: Jeff Peabody and Scott Krippayne

Jeff Peabody and Scott Krippayne won the competition with their song "This is My Now". The song was sung by both Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks but the song was such that it did not fit Blake's genre and therefore he could not pull off the song. Jordin however managed to sing the song beautifully allowing her to clinch the victory on season six of "American Idol." All other options are songwriters whose songs were chosen in the top 20 songs for the songwriting competition.

Answer: Fantasia Barrino

Kelly Clarkson performed "Never Again" during the season six finale of "American Idol". Ruben Studdard and Taylor Hicks performed for the first time during season six while Carrie Underwood performed for the second time during the sixth season. Fantasia Barrino who was busy with a Broadway play - "The Color Purple" did not sing during the season finale of "American Idol" season six.

Answer: "Home" by Chris Daughtry

The main eliminatin song this year was "Home" by Chris Daughtry. This song replaced "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter which was the elimination song for the fifth season. "I'll Stand by You" was the elimination song for Phil Stacey. "A Moment Like This" was not used in the first six seasons as an elimination song on "American Idol".

Answer: Ashley Ferl

Ashley Ferl is a 13 year old girl who cried through that performance and was parodied along with Sanjaya on "Saturday Night Live". Ashley was actually crying through some other contestants' performances as well but was only noticed during Sanjaya's performance because Simon commented on her crying. Furley Ash is just a little play on her name because I ran out of names to put as options. Shayamali is actually Sanajaya's sister and her last name is Malakar not Milan. Kelley Hill is one of the songwriters who entered the songwriters competition.

Answer: No one was eliminated

The contestants were narrowed down to Chris and Jordin and for a second Jordin thought she was eliminated but in reality no one would be eliminated on a charity night. Two people were eliminated the next week to make up for the no elimination on "Idol Gives Back" night. Celene Dion and Elvis Presley's animation sang together but while that was a shocker, it wasn't the big shocker that Ryan was referring to. Ben Stiller was just one of the many celebrities who were performing to add to the charity night on "American Idol".

Answer: Jordin Sparks

After 74 million votes, Jordin Sparks was declared the winner. She entered the finale as a definite favorite to win owing to the fact that Blake shouldn't have got through to the finale over Melinda Doolittle. First runner up was Blake, second runner up was Melinda and third runner up was Lakisha. So even with all those major upsets throughout the competition, three of the top 4 contestants deserved to be in the top 4 with only Blake as the surprise factor.
