4. Which season 4 contestant dropped out of the race just before the start of the finalist rounds?

Answer: Mario Vasquez

Mario, who advanced from the semifinals to finalist status, dropped out of the race for "personal reasons". This move created an opportunity for Nikko Smith to take his place. Nikko lasted an additional three weeks before being voted off.
5. Of these "American Idol" finalists, which one previously taught disabled children in Raleigh, North Carolina?

Answer: Clay Aiken

Clay, who became season 2's runner-up, majored in special education at the University of North Carolina, and worked with autistic children prior to his "Idol" days. Anwar Robinson, who finished in seventh place during season 4, taught music at a middle school in East Orange, New Jersey.
6. Three of these "American Idol" finalists performed during the same season. Which one does not belong to this group?

Answer: Lindsey Cardinale

Trenyce, Carmen, and Kimberly finished in fifth, sixth, and seventh places during season 2. Lindsey was the first finalist to be eliminated in season 4.
7. Which of these celebrities has never appeared on "American Idol" during it's first four seasons?

Answer: Celine Dion

Many guest stars have been featured on the show; acting as judges along with Simon, Randy, and Paula. This was especially true during seasons 2 and 3, when many greats, including Barry Manilow, Lionel Richie, Elton John, Gladys Knight, and Neil Sedaka appeared.
8. How was the previous age requirement changed prior to auditions for season 4?

Answer: The maximum age was raised from 24 to 28

The original age range for "American Idol" was from 16 to 24. The producers later raised the maximum age to 28, allowing for more experienced candidates to audition.
9. How many of the season 4 "American Idol" finalists would not have qualified for the competition if the age requirement had not been changed?

Answer: 5

By the end of season 4, Bo and Constantine were 29 years of age. Scott Savol and Nadia Turner were both 28, and Anwar Robinson was 26. These five would have been too old to have qualified in previous seasons.
10. Who entered the final competition with Carrie Underwood in season 4?

Answer: Bo Bice

The grand finale was a contest between the "rocker with soul" from Helena, Alabama and "the country girl with heart" from Checotah, Oklahoma. Though the race was close between these two very diverse singers; Carrie's sweet, angelic voice won her the title of "American Idol". Three weeks later, Bo admitted (in a press interview), that he actually hoped he would not win the competition. Though he was grateful for all of the exposure that the show provided him, he believed that the title of "American Idol" may have hindered his opportunity to record the type of records that he most identifies with.
