Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What cartoon on Disney featured Baloo from "The Jungle Book?"

Answer: TaleSpin

"TaleSpin" ran for only one season in 1990. There were 65 episodes of "Talespin" made. Ed Gilbert voiced Baloo. Baloo is an airplane pilot for cargo and flies a plane called Sea Duck.
2. Which show's characters declare, "We're tiny, we're toony, and we're all a little looney," and also claim, "and in this cartooney we're invading your TV?"

Answer: Tiny Toon Adventures

"Tiny Toon Adventures" came out in 1990 and ran for three seasons. The first episode saw the two main characters being created. Buster Bunny was a blue and white rabbit who wore a red shirt. Babs Bunny (who Buster said is not related to him) is a pink rabbit who wore a yellow shirt and purple skirt with a purple bow on her head.

The show is about their adventures and the adventures of other toon characters such as Plucky Duck and Hamton J. Pig.
3. What cartoon character had a crush on Patti Mayonnaise?

Answer: Doug Funnie

"Doug" premiered in 1991 on Nickelodeon and ran from 1991 to 1994. A few years later, in 1997, it was bought by Disney, and more episodes were created. Doug is an 11-year-old who has a pet dog named Pork Chop. He is insecure due to his perceived or actual failures. His best friend is Skeeter Valentine. The school bully is Roger.
4. Who were Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, and Angelica?

Answer: Rugrats

"Rugrats" debuted in 1991 and ran for nine seasons. Tommy Pickles is the smartest of the babies and acts as the leader. Chuckie Finster is always "a-scared" of everything despite being the oldest of the babies as he is two years old. The twins, Philip and Lilian (Phil and Lil), DeVille live next door to Tommy. Lil is older by two minutes. They argue all the time but do not like to be separated for long. Angelica Pickles is Tommy's cousin; she is no longer a baby as she is now three. She enjoys tormenting the babies and is extremely spoiled.

Later, Susie Carmichael, another three-year-old, moves next door to Tommy. She is a little black girl who wants to be friends with the babies even though she is older. Kimi Watanabe-Finster, is also older. Her mother married Chuckie's father in a later movie. Dil Pickles (Dylan) was much younger than everyone as he was a newborn. He is Tommy's baby brother. Tommy also has a dog named Spike, who is always there but not a crucial part of the episodes.
5. In 1992, Disney created what cartoon series based on a 1989 Disney movie?

Answer: The Little Mermaid

"The Little Mermaid" ran for three seasons. The series was a prequel to the movie and was about Ariel's underwater adventures with Flounder, Sebastian, and the others. I loved this show because one, "The Little Mermaid," was my favorite Disney movie. But also, there was a little mermaid named Gabriel, who was deaf, who appeared in a couple of episodes.

She used American Sign Language (ASL). To me, it was one of the most beautiful cartoon characters ever created.
6. Where would you find Chicken Boo?

Answer: Animaniacs

"Animaniacs" came out in 1993 and ran for five seasons. The three main characters were brothers Yakko and Wakko and their sister Dot Warner. There were many other characters as well, including Chicken Boo was one of them. He was a chicken who tried to pass himself off as a man. His theme was "Chicken Boo, what's the matter with you? You don't act like the other chickens do. You wear a disguise to look like human guys. But you're not a man; you're a Chicken Boo." Another favorite character of mine was a little girl named Mindy who always got her dog, Buttons, in trouble. She called her mom "Lady," and her catchphrase was "Okay. Love you. Bye-bye."

The show did a lot of parodies of things, such as "West Side Story" using the characters on the show. Yakko sometimes did educational musical numbers such as "State Capitals," where he sang all United States state capitals.

Another major part of this show was a sketch called "Pinky and The Brain." In every episode, Pinky would say something along the lines of "What are we going to do today?" And The Brain would reply, "Same thing we do every day, try and take over the world." And each time, they would fail.
7. In 1995, two characters from "The Lion King" got their own series. Which two were they?

Answer: Timon and Pumbaa

"Timon & Pumbaa" featured the voices of Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa) and Nathan Lane (Timon), although Nathan Lane was only in the earlier episodes in season one. He was replaced by Quinton Flynn for the rest of season one and then Kevin Schon in the final two seasons. The series was mainly about their adventures after the movie "The Lion King."
8. I admit it, I liked the show "Blue's Clues" even though I was 16 when it came out in 1996. I used to watch it with my little nephew and got hooked. What was the name of the original human on the show?

Answer: Steve

"Blue's Clues" was an interactive pre-school show in which the Blue had them solving a mystery with three paw print clues. After they got all the clues, Steve would sit in the "thinking chair" with his "handy dandy notebook" and figure out what Blue was after.

Other characters were the mailman who always got Steve excited as "when it comes I want to wail - MAIL!" There was also Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper, who were salt and pepper shakers, as the name suggests. This show also used American Sign Language sometimes in the show, which was awesome!
9. Who is the builder?

Answer: Bob

"Bob the Builder," a British animated series, came out in 1998. Bob is a constructor and has machines that can also talk. Scoop, the unofficial leader of the machines, is a yellow digger. Muck is the red bulldozer who is rather clumsy. Dizzy is the orange cement mixer, is the youngest of the group.

She likes to respond with "Excellent!" Roley is a green singing steamroller who spins when he gets excited. Lofty is a blue crane who often replies, "Uh, yeah, I think so." Bob's business partner is a woman named Wendy.
10. The title character's last name is Anaconda. What is her first name?

Answer: Angela

"Angela Anaconda" debuted in 1999 and was a Canadian-American series. It ran for three seasons. Angela was an eight-year-old freckle-faced girl from the fictional town of Tapwater Springs. She is a bit of a tomboy and has an active imagination. The cartoon lets viewers inside that imagination.
