Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was the first person to portray the Doctor in this story?

Answer: Rowan Atkinson

Atkinson had long wanted to portray the Doctor, and jumped at the chance in this charity special, which was broadcast on BBC1 on March 12, 1999.
2. What was the name of the Doctor's assistant?

Answer: Emma

Emma was played by "Absolutely Fabulous" alumnus Julia Sawahla.
3. The Master say that the Doctor's destruction waited on planet Zaston IV.

Answer: True

And the Master left the speaker on between the two TARDISes because, 'naturally' he would want the Doctor to know that and know that his "certain death was now ... certain!"
4. What planet did the Doctor ask the Master to meet him on?

Answer: Tersurus

The planet Tersurus was home to the most kindly and peace-loving race the Doctor had ever encountered, but they were also the most shunned and abhorred species in the galaxy, since they could only communicate through precisely-modulated gastric emissions (bottom burps).

The race was completely destroyed when they discovered fire.
5. According to the Doctor, how many times had he calculated that he had saved every planet in the known universe?

Answer: 27

That sounds about right ... and given the attention to detail in this parody, might actually be right.
6. Which of the following did the Doctor NOT say about his assistant?

Answer: A partner more creative than all the neutron flows I've ever reversed the polarities of

The Master was shocked when the Doctor told him he was retiring to marry Emma. The Doctor said he was weary of all "the evil in the universe ... all the cruelty ... all the suffering ... all those endless gravel quarries."
7. After his first unfortunate foray into the sewers, who did the Master bring along as allies to battle the Doctor?

Answer: The Daleks

The Daleks helped him because they were the only species without a nose, and the Master had just spent 312 years climbing out of the sewers of Tersurus ... "500 miles of fear and feces".
8. The Master gave the Daleks the secrets of the Time Lords and their ability to create TARDISes.

Answer: False

The Master gave them the secret of the Zechtronic Energy Beam, which would somehow allow them to take over the universe.
9. What common item did the Doctor's assistant ask the Daleks why they had in their ship?

Answer: Chairs

The Daleks, of course, said that they would "explain later" but, true to the form of the series, never did.
10. Who portrayed the "cute, sexy and like-the-mirror-handsome" Doctor?

Answer: Richard E. Grant

Richard E. Grant also played an unofficial ninth Doctor in the "Scream of Shalka" 40th anniversary animated adventure. Paul McGann was, of course, the eighth Doctor in the "Doctor Who" movie, and Lenny Henry played the Doctor in a skit on his comedy show.
11. Jim Broadbent played the Shy Doctor.

Answer: True

Jim Broadbent had also played the Doctor in a skit on "Victoria Wood As Seen on TV" in 1985.
12. After being killed three times in a minute, what did the Doctor discover he had forgotten to do to the Controller device?

Answer: Unplug it

"Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow" is the one bit of original series kitsch that I thought they really needed to work into the special, but I guess British viewers look at the series differently than those of us in the USA.
13. What did the Master call the augmentations that he received from the Daleks?

Answer: Dalek Bumps

Everyone else, except the final incarnation of the Doctor, considered them to be breasts as well.
14. What children's character did the Doctor's assistant compare him to?

Answer: Scooby Doo

Emma also compared him to Father Christmas and the Wizard of Oz.
15. Who portrayed the final incarnation of the Doctor?

Answer: Joanna Lumley

It seems the universe itself knew that there had to be a Doctor, so it gave him one final regeneration (much to Emma's chagrin ... she just wasn't the man she fell in love with). The Doctor and the Master seemed to be striking up a friendship at the end, though ...

Joanna Lumley was also a star of "Absolutely Fabulous", as well as "The New Avengers".

Thanks for playing and hope you enjoyed the quiz!
