1. What is the English translation of "Pobol Y Cwm"?

Answer: People of the Valley

Cwm in Welsh means valley and Pobol means people, so the answer must be People of the Valley. Village People was a famous pop group in the 70's.
2. What is the name of the fictitious village that is the setting for "Pobol y Cwm"?

Answer: Cwmderi

Cwmderi is a fictional village which is supposed to lie between Llanelli and Carmarthen in South West Wales. The cast are supposed to have Carmarthen accents but to those who have an ear for accents this is patently not accurate.
3. Most of the series is shot in the local pub. What is the name of the pub?

Answer: The Deri Arms

Although the pub is a stage set, the outdoors is in fact The Sportsman's Rest at Peterson's-Super-Ely in the Vale of Glamorgan. Whitewashed walls and a thatched roof make for a picturesque scene. When the series started in 1974, the pub was owned by Cliff and Megan James. Unfortunately Cliff died soon after the birth of their daughter, Rhian.
A great place to have a Cic Mul beer and a tasty meal.

Answer: Ioan Gruffudd

His start came playing the schoolboy, Gareth Wyn Harries and appeared intermittently from 1987 to 1994. He left the show as he was offered the lead role in " Poldark".

In a nice shade of blue, the chip shop has changed hands many times over the years. The food is always wrapped in the latest copy of the "South Wales Argus". The chip shop is situated on Stryd Fawr and has a flat above the shop, where many of the owners have lived over the years.
9. Who is the owner of the Cic Mul brewery?

Answer: Stacey Jones

Stacey became a parner with Steffan Humphries in 2002 but after a few months bought him out. An extremely hard worker who never reliquished control of the brewery, even when she was hospitalised after a traffic accident which injured her spine the following year.
10. What were the first words spoken on the show?

Answer: "Bore Da, Maggie Matthias"

These words meaning, "Good morning, Maggie Matthias" were spoken by Harri Parri. Little did they realise that the show would still be running 32 years later.
